    Latin Translation

I've searched the net and I've come up with many different versions. If someone knows latin or studied it or anything, and can help, that'd be awesome.

I'm looking for "That which does not kill me, makes me stronger." The best one I've found thus far is:

"Quod nos non occidit nos fortiores facit."

I just want structure and translation to be fairly accurate.

"Quod non occidas me, fortior me facit"

is what i got when i entered your sentence into here.

I take that back, on a second try i got this,

Ut quod does non iuguolo mihi , planto mihi validus

"Fortior me facit" = "makes me stronger." So I have that.

I just cant decide between "occidas" or "occidit". Essentially it means the same, Im just picky.

And yes Josh, looking to be a new tat.

to be in the correct tense, you would use occidas. There are no pronouns in latin, the pronoun is applied through the use of the verb. It does matter, because occidit means " kill us". where occidas is "kill me".

But on the other hand, who the fuck will know but geeks like me?

***edit the "me" in that translation is put there because there is no "me" in latin, only I...

Yeah, NightWolf been on my ass about going this year. The only thing keeping me from saying "I'll go" is that the first is one of my boys birthday.

BUT I have seen some vids on YT from other AFM's and it DEFINITELY looks worth my 8hr drive.

Miami is a little expensive for me to bring 5 people with me.
I was thinking of having the party the weekend before (since his birthday is during the week) and ship them all off to Nana's house for that weekend.

Besides, I don't wanna listen to "Mom, Mom, Mommy, Mama, Mom, Ma, MOM...are we there yet?" for 8 hours.

So, it'd translate to "What doesnt kill I.." ..? So the one Leung suggested: "Quod non occidas me, fortior me facit." would be the best bet?

Ive seen like 6000 versions of this in Latin and every one claims to be right. I mean, pick one lol.

"Quod me non necat fortiorem facit."
"Quod me non interficit, fortiorem me reddit."
"Quod nos non occidit, nos facit non fortiores."

It seems that "occidas(/it), interficit, and Necat" can all be the "kill" part. It just depends on the other words.

Then there's also "fortior, fortiores and fortiorem". And also the use, or non-use, of "nos".

I know it wont translate DIRECTLY to "That which does not kill me, makes me stronger." but I dont want it to translate to "what i kill does not, stronger makes me." ya know?

And that's where Im torn. I know Latin works differently than English, like Spanish does, and the verbs and nouns and things are placed differently but let's put it this way; if I ever run into someone who speaks Latin, I dont want them to tell me, "Oh, you did it wrong..." lol.

So far, "Quod non occidit me, fortior me facit." sounds the best. It's not too long and it does translate, roughly, to what I want it to.

Everything Ive found, with "occidAS" translates to "that it does not kill" where as "occiDIT" translates to "that does not kill" and with "QUOD" pretty much meaning "that" AND "what", it translates to "What does not kill me, makes me stronger." Which is what I want.

Again, I know nothing about Latin so if Im doing it wrong, let me know, lol.

And the ending I have. They all mean the same.

                              "Fortior me facit."
                              "Facit me fortiores"
                              "fortiorem me reddit."

They all translate to "Makes me stronger." I just need to tweak that beginning piece.
