JDM Honda engines don't have numbers following them... so if it was JDM, it would say B18A only. If it says B18A1, it's USDM for sure. And yeah, other than the increased displacement, it's a downgrade.

OK my buddy brought the car over this afternoon so i could see it and it was a B18B.

In my opinion it was an so so car.. looked like someone's failed project car because the door jams were rattled can, the hood had crap paint, the exhaust sounded like crap and the driver side window didn't go up all the way. He also needs a passenger side axle because the inner boot is torn.

He ended up paying 2k cash for it, i think i would have passed and looked for something else.

Isn't it an act of heresy to use a Toyota belt on a Honda engine?

My suggestion was to just drive this a little longer after replacing the axle and not to dump any more money into it. I think he agreed.

Why are we even talking about the H or K? This thread was merely asking to help identify a B series engine... not asking what should be replacing it.

If it is the JDM B18B, it is really not a bad choice for that car. Compared to the B16, it is only ~15hp short but has 20 ft-lb more tq. Nothing wrong with that motor choice
