The point of this thread is to list a money saving idea. Any idea that will save you a buck is a good idea. Lets have'em!

I will start...
Instead of eating out everyday like my co-workers, I buy the large subs from Walmart's deli ($5-6 each)and cut them into threes. I take one section a day to work for lunch plus a side, usaully fruit seeing as how i go to the gem two hours after eating and it gives me an energy boost. So I can save any where from $3-4 a day.


So, what do you have?

-Car Pooling saves gas.
-Cooking/buying in bulk.
-DIY's for any repair.
-Use Eco friendly power, the light bulbs cost alot less.
-Don't waste food.
-Cost splitting.

Cancel cable for netflix. Save $130 a month.

Cooking vs eating out. I do eat out a lot though.

Not scratching the mod itch for the car.

One thing I could be doing is my own laundry but I pay to have it done for me and I wont change that I'll never do laundry again.

I know it might seem obvious, but put whatever amount of $$ away each day and dont spend it (it could be $0.25 or $20)...I used to have 3 jars of money; one for savings, the other for giving; and the other to spend on myself. I would try and put the equal amount in each jar everyday...other ideas:

-quit smoking (if you do smoke)
-cooking at home
-get off the bottled water
-spend less on phone services

Yeah like every pay check put like 5-10% of it aside in safe keeping and don't touch it until it's DESPERATELY needed.

Get Cricket or Straight Talk from walmart.

Cricket has some SERVICE problems but walmart's phones themselves aren't very good and the screen cracks very easily. I've had both and now I just use my iPod touch cuz u can get a free texting app.

buy a 1 lb bag of dry lentils........$1.19
one can of salsa........................$2.89

use half of the bag of beans. bring the beans to a boil, then let them simmer for 30 mins.

about 10 mins before the beans are done, add in the salsa. done. you can eat off it many times. later.

I gotta try this. Sounds pretty good. How do you think it would turn out with spicy salsa?

Cancel your cable or satellite....saves $70 - $150 per month.
Cook your own meals and desserts.
Make your shopping list using the sales add BEFORE going to the store and FOLLOW your list.
If you're in an apartment, make friends with your neighbors on each side and you all share one internet connection with wifi.
Quit buying alcohol.
Quit buying drugs.
Quit buying prostitutes.
Quit smoking.

I'm so fucking guilty. I live two blocks from my shop and yet I drive every morning... at least I loop around so the engine warms up :\ been meaning to get a bicycle lol

Try mooching or sponging off of others, ie; parents, friends.

I put my paycheck directly in the bank, pay my bills first, and then spend money sparingly on fun stuff: car parts, booze, nights out. I've saved quite a chunk of change this way.

Netflix instead of cable.

Store brand products when possible.

Cheap beer when I'm feeling extra cheap lol.

Dollar menu when I hit the fast food joint, which is never these days. On that note, hit up subway, $5 footlong is cheaper than Big mac meal.

Store bought pizza instead of delivery. Dominos wanted to charge us $45 for 2 large pizzas delivered the other day effff that. Little Ceasers son, 15 for 2 pizzas and breadsticks, and no waiting, tho no delivery. Sure its not as good, but I'd rather have the cash for a flatscreen than an empty wallet and no tv.

Pre-game before hitting the bars. 2 beers at a bar equals a good 6 pack at the store. Or join a private club like the Legion, cheap drinks and you can smoke inside since its not a public establishment. Plus you can usually bring friends. One of my co-workers is a member and he invites the whole office to the place for a karaoke night that runs. its like 30 of us and none of us are members, we just say we're his guests.
