The hardest part was Doing the research and figuring out which fridge had been converted the most so that I didnt F$%^ it up and have a giant paper weight. I ended up buying a Danby from Wal mart that was 230 bucks, wasn't cheap but atleast I knew and feel pretty confident that I wasnt going to F it up. All the cheap models have freezers on the top part which make it harder to control the temps.

My wife was askign how many glasses we would get out of each mini keg and I said probably around 50 beers. Which doesn't sound like much till you figure you are drinking 7% micro brew..

            LOL! Awesome dood.

Yea research is the biggest part of any project, i don't care what it is.

            Q-

Would you be able to keep something like this in a garage that was not temp contolled?

My wife would NEVER let me put this in a living room/kitchen and im not sure what kind of house ill end up with but i KNOW ive gotta have a mans garage.

I want nothing less then a two car garage so i SHOULD have the room to pop this in a corner.....

but im sure temp is key.....so what do you think?

Also it should be noted that my wife hates beer, so this would be of no use to her LOL!

I keep a mini fridge out in my garage and it gets over a hundred during the day. I still come home to ice cold beer. I think the only time you'd have an issue is winter. However, my coors light rarely froze on me, and that's nowhere near 7%, so maybe you'd be alright. My garage has absolutely no insulation though, and I know it makes a huge difference if your garage has insulation and drywall. My friend's garage hardly ever dips below 40.

Yup I agree 100% It gets really hot in our house sometimes. I agree with the winter issue also. Right now I keep a glass of water in there to see if it freezes becuase the thermostat is kind of shitty. Might change it out later.

I see the makings for a fabulous beer gut!

I've been dying to do this myself. I have a small countertop next to my fridge that's absolutely worthless, so I was thinking of putting a mini-fridge in the basement, and running lines up through the floor and into that countertop.

The initial investment is a bit steep (I assume about $400-$500 total?) but once everything is up and running, you are set for beer for quite a while!

I helped my old room mate with something like that once. Only we used a free full size fridge.

I actually prefer the full size fridge with freezer (obviously if you have the space) because we used HVAC insulation around the beer lines coming out of the fridge to keep them cold. We also installed copper piping coming out of the freezer, around the back of the 4 taps wrapping around each one, and back into the freezer. This is used for a container full of antifreeze and a normal garden pump.

If you have a party you just plug in the pump and the 10 degree antifreeze chills the taps and your beer before it even hits the glass.

When I own my own house, I'm so building one of these.

What are you using for C02 control? What size tank? I know they make some very basic controls and they also make some super complex regulators.

Anti freeze? seems like a huge hassle. The major problem that I Was concerned with was keeping he lines cold in the tower to prevent foaming, but ITs doing fine and the beer pours out cold. Some people install small fans that blow cold air into the tower, but eh not needed here.

If you wanted to run lines like that you would obviously put them in pipe and then you would need a blower to blow cold air into the pipe to keep the lines cold and from foaming the bear. Then you run into condensation issues etc from the difference in heat temps. I almost did that but I thought it was way more of a hassle than I wanted to take on.
