Honda was founded in 1948. Hyundai was founded in 1947... so yes, I can TOTALLY see how Hyundai is ripping off Honda's name

Hyundai actually makes a quality product. The earlier ones weren't great, and it is true that their marketing seems to be their most refined product... but Hyundai doesn't make a bad car at all.
Ok, thanks for the history lesson! (not sarcastically, seriously)

I think its funny how i always find myself thinking tha Hyundai does have interesting commericals, and that they have put alot of time in their marketing campaigns.

Ok, so you say they make good cars. But would you place them at the same level of Honda or Toyota in reliability and long- lasting?

not the earlier ones dude. anything Pre-'99 is crap imo...Oil leaks weak torque converters,
input shafts on manual trannys, Ive seen it all come into my shop...Strange electrical gremlins....blown computers..almost anything lol. hondas are where its at for reliable and fun, toyotas mostly (with a few exceptions) are just reliable...

I understand I made an ass of myself trying to make a point to the OP, however he understands the point I was getting to and we are all on the same page now, and I am happy that everyone understands, and we all walked away from this learning something.

My apologies for being a bit of a dick, but in the end we're all more educated for it.

Older Hyundais aren't great. However, I still regularly see early 90s models rolling around, driven by fat old ladies that are very unlikely to get under there regularly and maintain it... so they hold up. Older Kias aren't quite as good (once they basically became Hyundais, they were better.)

Today's Hyundai models aren't quite up to Honda quality (I'm not a fan of Toyota, though my bias is fairly unfounded...) In another generation, I feel Hyundai could meet or surpass Honda quality unless Honda really puts focus on further improving their already well-made vehicles. Hyundai's growth has been incredible over the past 10 years.

Given the choice of a Hyundai Equus or Acura RL, I'd probably choose the Hyundai.
Now, given the choice between a Honda Accord and a Hyundai Sonata (as cool as the turbo 4 is...) I'd choose the Accord.

Also, in regards to the 1st generation Nissan Quest / Mercury Villager... The van was co-developed by the two companies.
As for the Evoque, I can't find anything that puts it as a Ford-based vehicle, but it does make sense. Even though the company has been sold to Tata, the designs that have been in the works for MANY years have been based on Ford platforms. The same goes for Saab. Saab is releasing new models based on GM platforms, even though GM sold the company to Spyker. It takes a very long time to engineer a car from scratch.
