I just about landed a work at home pharmacy tech job. Typing in scripts for aetna sent to me via email/fax. Good pay, benefits, and the convenience of working at home. Drama free work environment, what's not to love. But...we kept on playing phone tag and there was a miscommunication with setting up the phone interview and I never heard back.

      I just applied online.

Werd! I'm taking a class to be certified as a pharmacy tech... starting next tuesday. I don't really need it, but it'd be nice to have something to fall back on, in case my current job slows down or disappears for some reason.
Where did you apply? That sounds like a pretty sweet gig.

I applied at Aetna through careerbuilder.com

Normally I would say don't waste your money with those classes. Although, since you already have a job, getting a job at your local CVS to get some on the job training probably wouldn't work for you.

The only thing with those classes is, I've seen so many people come straight out of those classes looking like lost little puppy dogs when they enter the pharmacy. I really wonder what they teach. That may just be the classes out here though. I'm pretty sure they give you all the tools needed to get nationally certified, but if you want some extra books let me know. I also have a brand-generic pocket book to get you a little bit ahead of the game, if you want. Hell, if you have any questions while taking your class shoot me a pm and I'll try to help you out.

Edit: I've been a tech for going on 7 years now, so I know my fair share of stuff.

            Awesome. Thanks Kim.

I'm really just taking the class for the certification. I figured it was probably as you said... lots of information that probably won't help much in the real world (like bartending school... we used to laugh at anyone that did that when they applied to the restaurants i worked at!)

              No problem Mike.

Yeah I'm thinking it's exactly like that. You never know.

I drive all over for my job, but my "office" is at home. I don't have a specific location that I go to for work. I'm technically self employed, but I do have a chain of command that I have to answer to for the particular contract I work under.
