Removing AC/PS/CC in a DD.... pls explain?

Let's get to the bottom of this.

Honestly I dealt without p/s for about 9 months. It was a bitch to drive in general without it.

Yeah I've heard the saying 'but Henry it frees up parasitic power loss' but you know what? It hurt my arms and it's definitely not good on the rack unless you properly lube it.

    So I reinstalled it.

C/C was removed because I didn't have the time or the patience to re-wire the automatic to except a manual C/C along with the cables being different I decided to eliminate it all together. Maybe someday I'll install it...someday.

A/C hasn't been completely removed although if I do re-install it, I would have to change out the following:

    - Condenser
    - Receiver / Drier (the descendant inside was exposed to moisture)
    - Evap Core
    - Compressor

Not to mention I would have to evacuate and then retro fit it after all is done but then again a/c compressor is probably the most expensive part out of the whole project.

$430 for brand new at that hampers it and that's thru Honda.

Daily Drivers should have every accessory in working condition. I commute 28 miles each way to work everyday and i like my accessories! (getting my A/C fixed soon) Love cruise control, helps with fuel economy. PS is nice.

If the car has it, it should work.

If said accessory doesn't work and it doesn't matter to you, take it out if you care that much!

I won't ever pull my power steering, parasitic loss or not. It's staying. Some days I wish I would have just come up with a way to "tuck" the cruise control, however I'm used to not having it now and I'd rather have my NRG quick release steering wheel. A/C, granted, would be nice at times, but I'd rather ride with the windows down anyway.

I don't daily drive my car, but I do drive it as much as possible spring - fall. So for the summer I do have to deal with no A/C on hot days and no cruise on my 22 mile each way commute to work.

Why do people daily drive a Lotus Elise or a turbo Honda when you can just drive something that is much more comfortable? They daily drive cars like that because it is fun and it feels like you are driving a race car all the time.

Same logic applies to removing unnecessary accessories on a car. It feels more like a race car and it is fun.

That being said, if it is a stock/lightly modded Honda, then I'll have to agree that it is pretty silly to remove AC and PS.

EDIT: then there are people who are freaking weird like myself. For example I never use the AC no matter how hot it is outside. If just put the windows down and enjoy the heat, I know that probably sounds ridiculous but it is what it is.

MY REASONS: I drove a 72 c10 truck for 2 yrs with out PS so I didn't want to replace the pump so I took it out and in the processes I cleaned up my engine bay at the same time. Same thing same truck no ac either I don't mind it. So the seals go bad in my ac pump Its easier and cheaper to take it out. And I cleaned up my engine bay again. Cruise control was just ugly I don't need it once again my truck didn't have it and I drove it for 3hrs strait one day. So I don't mind not having these things never had it so its not a necessity to me.

i deliver pizzas for a living 40 hours a week my daily only has PS (and i live in florida the heat is not so much of an issue, don't get me wrong it bothers me but not to terribly much when i drive)

doesn't seem to bother me at all not having certain accessories, like radio but i guess i am an idiot according to tippey (not offended but just saying that's a very broad statement)

I've been meaning to fix my A/C, but I just roll my windows down.
I wouldn't pull power steering unless it wasn't my DD.
I pulled my CC on my old LX because I already had my own, my foot.
(And it liked to speed, so I didn't trust it.)

it all depends on whats your definition of daily driver. some people want a/c, ps, i in their dd. some people dont want these things in their dd.

I need to put CC back in my H22 CB. Its all there but I did a Auto to 5spd conversion and yeah...wiring is all that needs to be done, and maybe that NSS. ugh I hate thinking about it.

Im a little shit and not having power steering doesn't bother me a bit. Try driving a Lexus without it and tell me how you feel.
