I sold my accord! story inside...

......well my DD 91' white LX coupe. I'd never give up my H22 CB for anything

Call after call I was getting nervous that my price was too high, people called, and said they "would show up at such and such time" and then wouldn't come or call....its like I was being stood up everyday haha. Wasn't a good feeling at all.

But then, just like all the others, this kid calls up and says he'd meet me at 2pm today...so I was trying to get all my errands done and use up the gas since it had just about half a tank in it and didn't want to let it go to waste.

2pm came and he didn't call. I called back, no answer. Left a message. I thought he was just like all the rest, but then he calls outta the blue at 4pm and wants to see it again in 30 min, so I quickly get all my shit outta it and make it presentable.

He rolls by and comes with his dad in a lifted Chevy Duramax pickup.....$$$ I thought, haha. It had an exhaust on it and some nice Weld 20" wheels with Nitto Terra Grapplers so I was optimistic when that pulled up.

I go with them on the test drive and the kid doesn't know where the hell he's going, he drives in to random cul-da-sacs and gets lost a lot haha. A/C's blowing ICE cold like I advertised and its about 100 degrees out right now. Then we eventually make it back to my house and they start nit-picking at stuff.

It needed a windshield but thats about it, everything else was good, well and the door rubber on the D/S was deteriorating away. So they ask to talk it out for about 5-10 min, I go inside and chill. They called me up on my cell and I go back out.

I was asking $3000 and they countered with $2750....I said how about $2800 and they agreed!

So, after owning it since Aug 2010, swapping in an entire engine, replacing the timing belt and misc. heater hoses, doing the brakes, charging the AC, lowering it on Goldline springs, fixing the tac welded bumper with proper bolts, dropping the tank to fix fuel pump wiring TWICE b/c I stupidly reused the gasket and getting it emission tested...its all done!

Hope he treats it well by changing the oil on time...b/c thats basically all he has to do after I got done with it.

    Here's the car:

yeah I put in so much of my time to fix it all up too though. And you gotta think about how many other CB7s are on Craigslist with shitty brakes, bad balljoints, no AC blown headgaskets and timing belts about to snap.

I just have pictures of whatever's on my phone, which are identical to those haha.

I threw in my old radio from my seattle silver CB wired that up to two speakers and it worked perfect.

also installed a tan armrest since I had it laying around. So it was pretty nice inside.

Did you at least let him check out your other one to see how bad ass he could make it?

yeah I was really only hoping for 2500, but I threw 3000 b/c I know people like to lowball the shit outta you. I think he was willing to pay more because I documented everything I did on it, and gave him all the receipts as well as took pictures of the cylinder head and engine right after they were sent back from the machine shop. SO that helped prove how well maintained it was.

They can still go for well over 3K in good shape. You guys forget that we don't have the aging issues out here that you do. No rust, and other than rubber stuff drying out more quickly, no other real wear and tear to speak of.

Older Hondas are still worth gold in these parts because everyone knows they run forever with few issues. Normally, they die because they rust to pieces, not because they are mechanically failed. Remove the rust, and you have a car that will run practically forever with very little care and maintenance. Even my 90 which has been here almost its whole life has ZERO surface rust on anything, including bolts and such, and even with 260K+ it runs like a charm. It is just now getting to the point where some of the more expensive rubber parts (like door run channels, and weatherstripping are starting to wear out) and it is 21 this year.

Yeah, but you work on cars and know how to fix things, so its different for you, price wise. The people who bought this didn't know jack shit about cars and would probably be taking it to a mechanic to get oil changes and simple things like that done on it. So if they were to do all the things I did to it, at a shop, they'd probably be over 2k easily just for parts and labor. That's how a non-mechanically inclined person's view would be.
