Because if I remember correctly (been a while since my brother took Karate), Karate incorporates Okinawan martial arts, which includes empty-handed Chinese Kung Fu.
Could be wrong though, it's been like 20 years.

Ya know....strangely enough, that movie is what kinda got me into her. Well, not into her, but I had never liked her or seen any of her movies until that one. And the only other movies of hers that i like or watch are "P.S. I Love You" and "The Core".
