Alien vs Predator questions for you AVP nerds

I know there's some AVP nerds out there. C'mon you know you wanna help me out in explaining these to her:

My wife and I finally saw AVP. I have seen all the Alien and Predator movies, but she has only seen Alien Resurrection.

She understands that the alien, after leaping from the chest of the victim takes some of the form of the creature that it was implanted into, but she has the following questions:

    - why was the predators killing off the humans when the aliens were the inteded prey?

    - if the alien has acidic blood, how did the predator take the skull shell off the one to make a sort of shield without it melting him or the girl he gave it to?

    - wouldn't sending the momma alien to bottom of the sea only put her into a sort of suspended animation instead of killing her?

    - if the aliens are supposedly on modern day earth, why does it take 1000 years for them to be discovered (think Alien movie series) on another planet, and where are the Predators then?

Wow I've yet to see that movie..( I dunno I never really got into it that much ) I did catch some of the Predator movies from the late 80s and few glimpses of the Alien movies.

But you do have a valid line of questioning...now I gotta see everything and then answer the questions.

Well I know for sure that predators hunt humans for sport, and use their skulls as trophies. (Sometimes they take the backbone with the skull)

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

First question: Predetors are highly inteligent hunters, everything is their pray. The Humans in this movie however where being hunted because rather then being used as only hosts for the xenomorphe they stole the predetors weapons.

Second question: If you paid close attention you would see the xenomorphe had a pretective membrane that kept it's blood away from it's outer skin, the Predetor removes that membrane and lines the skull with it so the human wouldn't be injured.

Third Question: Yes it would, they left that to your imagination and/or have setup future sequals.

Fourth question: This movie is clever because it falls into the middle or so of the sagas timeline. What they are tring to establish is that the Xenomorphe (alien) is discovered in modern time by Weyland industries (the "company" from the future based alien series) so now Weyland knows about this race and in the furture when the ship is discovered on a Weyland colony they know exactly why they are sending a group in... to become a host and caputure this "weapon".

The Predetors in that series do not come up but don't be surprised to see another movie come out that is based even furter in the furture with the Alien and Predetor.

          BustedLX, second question's answer response:

Okay, so inconjunction with the membrane between the skull and the fleshy part of the alien head, you'll remember that when the one predator fired his diamond constrictor net on the one alien it dug into that protective 'skull' and it oozed the acidic blood that allowed the alien to be freed from the net.

sorta offtopic...but in predator's 2, at the end you see a collection of all the species the predators hunted for sports...and one of them is the head of one of the aliens (the aliens from the "aliens" movie....but there were other aliens as in "other lifeform aliens" as well lol)

You're right. Maybe the membrane broke or something. I don't know really, I just enjoyed the movie and made a few observations. I look forward to future sequals and prequals.

Awesome. I'll look into it some more. I just hated thinking I was the only AVP nerd that overanalyzed the movie. Thanks.
