With so much war going on in around the world, it's a scary time to be joining the military! I don't know how active the Canadian military is in the worldwide conflicts... but I know I certainly wouldn't want to join the US military right now!

Still, I admire anyone that joins the military. It's a good start, especially for what you're looking to do. Just make the experience work for you! I know a lot of ex-military guys that end up being losers, simply because they expected success to be handed to them once they got out.

yeah you guys are pulling out of Afghanistan now. You played a small but key role over there. You only sent over 2,900 troops which is only 5th most but you guys actually did stuff.
You didnt come into Iraq but we could have used ya!
            England doesnt do SHIT.

My unit came back from iraq in 2008-2009 and now were most likly going to Afghanistan in 2012

Congrats! I'm planning on joining as soon as I get citizenship. That's still about 2.5 years off though.

Canada is more involved than most think. Considering they're about a tenth of the size of the US they're pulling their weight. They're fighting in the hot spots in Afghanistan, they're bombing Libya currently, and they do a lot of training with US forces. Look at NORAD - joint US/Can operation.

England's involved as well so I'm not sure why you're saying the UK doesn't do much. Look at the Italian forces who were in the most boring places in Afghanistan.

I think Canada is def key to success in Afganistan. I wish they were not pulling out by any means. They didnt send many troops but they actually did key missions in some shitty areas. England sent many more troops over to Afghanistan and iraq how ever they were stationed in the most peaceful part of iraq pulling security. I cant speak for them in Afghanistan.

Someone needs to tell stop them from pulling out! lol

At least the UK was with us in Desert Shield.

Point is, if the OP wants to be SWAT or anything else LEO related, training is one thing but the best weapon is the thing between your ears.
