...sold my Civic, ditched the fiancee. [Life story inside - 56K OK]

Well friends, some of you may have known my car, some of you just know me but the Civic that I spent the last five years tearing apart/modifying/rebuilding/enjoying was sold to a good friend of mine this past week.

I do miss it already, but I'm quite complacent because I now have the opportunity to upgrade and try something new. I also know the person well who purchased it, so I'll get to see it again and hopefully he'll enjoy/appreciate it as much as I did.

It was a good 5yr run, never left me stranded anywhere even when I spun a bearing it got me home. That was my true friend!

As for what I plan to get now...

04.5 Jetta GLI 1.8T looks promising, it comes w/ Recaros, BBS wheels, really nice lip kit, and sport tuned suspension (20mm lower than stock) so I can keep it stock for a bit while I focus on other aspects of life -- like traveling a bit, and finishing up my Bachelor's degree (I had put this on hold for a while).

Some of you who know me on a more personal level know that I was engaged, but I called that off and walked away from the relationship because I couldn't tolerate the level of selfishness I was seeing as of late. I've also been back to the gym, and lost 15lbs in the past month

Well someone crashed into it, however it still runs & drives excellently other than needing a trans solenoid because the trans apparently can't make up it's mind on whether it should start off in 1st or 4th gear.

Been daily driving it, just shifting through gears as needed when it can't make up it's own mind. Playing with the issue of fixing it or selling as a whole for $500. It's good other than bumper, driver's side headlight/fender, and hood. Interior is CLEAN AS HELL!

Bro, good luck on your future endeavors. Sometimes letting go is the best option. Sorry about the engagement. Your gonna be ok. The jetta is a great great car. I work at a volkswagen dealership. The only thing you gotta watch for is the ignition coils. There's an open campaign for them. They catch fire.
I fly by like the coupe grew wings!!!

It's all good homie, I'm back doing what I love. Freed up a lot of my time, and everything is stress free. Nice to just have female "friends" for those long nights, and it's even better when you don't have to check in or have your weekends planned out for you. :P

Since you're at a VW dealer, hook a brother up! Are you tech/parts or sales?

Sounds like you're getting yourself in a good place! Smart move walking away if you saw it going downhill... I wasn't smart enough to do that, and it's much more difficult to walk away once you're actually married!

That GLI... bleh. BEAUTIFUL car, but bleh.
My friend had one. Same year. Thought it was the greatest thing ever, until it broke and was in the shop for 3 out of the 5 months he owned it! When he got it back, I got sick of all his "my car is so much faster than yours!" crap, so I told him we're going to the track. My CB7 ripped that thing a new one, even in its current poor condition!

I've never known a VW in person that didn't fall apart. My drummer has an 04 Jetta... I picked him up yesterday when it broke down. My girlfriend has an 06 Beetle... When we met, it was in the shop for electrical issues (I didn't know what she had at the time, and jokingly said "do you drive a VW?"... I was right!)
In all, I've seen about 5 of them in person break down with stupid problems... usually electrical. And I've seen 5 of them on fire. One actually exploded (that was a sight to behold!)

So, my advice... no matter how pretty it may be... you'll probably regret buying a 7 year old turbo Jetta! A BMW of the same era would probably be far more reliable, and most likely even out in terms of cost to maintain in the long run... even if it is more expensive up front.

Anyway, congrats on losing weight and getting on with school! Hopefully I'll catch you at a meet in the future.

Yeah bro fuck that chick bro if shes selfish then let her be by herself you dont need to get married to that. do what I do treat em like mushrooms feed em shit and keep em in the dark. 1.8t huh pretty promising but you are going to pay for parts though thats a given.

Females today need to know their true self wortha nd reexamine the odds there are more women to men and they can be discarded at anytime ,I guess they are still not aware until your dick is in the next chick. You gotta live your life mang

Damn Luis, big changes!!! All for the better though.

IDK about that Jetta man, MKIVs are very problematic.

Maybe an E36 or E46 Bimmer? MKVs are somewhat affordable too. In any case, best of luck. I am still workin on that music shit, once I have a full disc together I will send you something.
