Well I see a lot more new Impreza's than Lancer's. Never really saw any new Evo's mostly WRX's and the odd STi. They just need a better quality interior. BUT THE EVO AND LANCER IS WHAT KEPT THEM IN THE USA FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS. Well mostly the Evo but I don't want Mitsubishi to pull off a this gen Corolla.

I do understand why they are getting rid of it though, at least keep the Ralliart or something.

Maybe this is just the end of internal combustion Evo's, the next Evo will be a hybrid or fully electric?

I think ralliart has been dead for quite some time, the only thing holding it is Mitsubishi. Not sure but I remember seeing a thread a few years back about them being bankrupt.

According to Wikipedia, they just cut back their operations as a company (Ralliart) about a year ago. It's still being used as a "halo-brand" by Mitsubishi, though.

Was Ralliart responsible for the development of the Evo, though? Or were they just known for producing added performance parts? I'm thinking of it as comparing Type R Hondas to Mugen Hondas. Or is it more like BMW's M cars, where more than just add-ons are engineered by the M-division.

Hybrids still have IC engines, the electric engine just runs the car at street speeds, and at high speeds the IC takes over where its more efficient.

Even at EvolutionM and EvoX forums they have the word that the Evo dies at the X, a few months back there was an article on R&T about there being an XI which was going to be a hybrid version, but Mitsu scrapped it when the car had BOTH understeer AND oversteer...at the same time... the electric engine ran the front wheels and the IC one ran the rears, so when the car kicked into high speeds and with the MIVEC and virtually zero lag, the car went all over the place so it was scrapped...

i guess the Evo really does die at the X... kinda cool number to kill it at though, although if there was to be a XIII i would be up on it like flies on shit.

Anyways, I'm sure Subaru would be happy to step in and fill the gap.
subi and yota will...wonder if nissan will come back with a smaller more affordable rwd or awd car again...

I'm very curious about the Scion FT-86 next week, this car should definitely be interesting.

To me the 1997 to 2001 galant looks like an evo under way. With that being said its strange though I dont think they will stop developing evo's I just thing more or less the shit is just on hold for now or until the world blows up which ever one comes first thats all. Damn Having both cars to me seems like a blessing a dodge and a mitsubishi.

                    Good.

The Evo is really the only vehicle the have to offer these days that has any respect in the market. The base Lancer is a decent car, and pretty popular... but without the legitimacy that the Evo brings to the brand, they're a second-string manufacturer.

                      Thank goodness.

That would suck if they killed the evo. I always wanted to get my hands on one of those AWD babies. I dont really like the thoughts of the end of gasoline. i feel like i havnt felt a true performance vehicle. (except that one time at gold coast in chi where a salesmen let me sit in a R8 and was nice about it.) Its almost like knowing your gonna die a virgin at 80 but you found this out at ten years old!

would it really kill mitsu if they nixed it? I hope so if it means they'll keep it around.

so it's going to be under the scion name then? Makes sense...that is there "youngsters" badge. Though...the first round of tc's seemed to be...all plastic feeling inside.

Curious how the actual car will look vs. concept

I'm not upset about evo's really better things coming...and good shit still to be found.
