Inspections are such a crock.

Inspections aren't provincially required here, it's totally up to the insurance company. Typically, cars 12 years and older here should have an inspection done when purchased by a new owner. There's no annual inspections here.

I've lived here almost 2 years, registered about 10 vehicles from 1982 to 2005 and have not been required to have a safety or emissions inspection performed on any of them.

Granted, there are a lot of shitboxes on the road, but hey, some people are poor and need a car that just gets them around for cheap.

I wish AZ would do inspections. People drive around here with dished out rotors, tires riding on steel belts on the inside and pretty much things falling off. Its really sad and makes me feel uneasy when I see a car like that behind me with its bumper hanging off not knowing if he'll stop on time and not rear end me.

It's the same here. Today I saw a Chevy Celebrity, completely rusted out...door bottoms gone, rockers gone, and had been rear ended, smashing all the tail lights. The trunk was tied down with a rope, and there were pieces of red plastic film duct taped over the broken lights.

Once when I took mine in, the guy had it on the rolling dyno test and sneezed. I saw his hand hit the computer keyboard and something went wrong and he failed my car. I went back later that day without doing anything to it, and it passed with flying colors. Like WTF!?
