Apparently this guy thinks his 93 Accord SE is worth more dead than alive.

Had a catastrophic water pump/timing belt failure. I still have entire car (130k miles), all prices are b/o, contact me if you need anything else.
At some point in the next two weeks, I'll also have the automatic transmisson out $450 (will take a deposit)

i came up with a rough estimate of like $3k or so

I would have paid $3k for my car the way it sat when I traded it. I had about that much into it, after paying 800 for it with body damage. And it only had 200k on it.
