Calling in sick

I hate how bosses can call in sick all they want. Or hell, they take days off to go Christmas shopping in St Louis, but if I call in sick, HOLY SHIT!!

At my current job, we dont get paid vacation until after we've been here a year. In that first year, when you call in sick, it was ".....ok..". Now that I have vacation, if I call in, the first words outta their mouth is; "I'll just use one of your vacation days..."

"No, dammit. If I wanted to use a vacay I would schedule it off. This is an unforseen event. Jerkass!"

Paid sick leave...benefits of the military. Just go to the Doc, let him know you dont feel good, go home and rest. Got the shits? No worries; thats an automatic minimum of 3-days off (so Ive noticed).

I rarely take sick days though. Im the only one proficient enough with my current duties in my squadron to be taking off, so I'll in turn only be hurting my own performance, and then be catching up.

If I had a few too many the night before, or just want the day off period, I can just text my supervisor, give him a quick status of my projects, and enjoy.

exact opposite for me! part of my taxes pay into my sick plan...so if i dont use them, i get 2 weeks paid back to me in march(i have no clue why its march...). thank god i work outside...i dont use sick days...if im sick...might as well go to work...at least as long as im outside my sinus' will be clear and ill be able to breathe properly and such...

but other then that...if ive used up my paid sick days, i can still call in sick all i want, still get paid...BUT theres a kicker to it...our computer system monitors everyones attendance, if it notices a "pattern" it alerts the superintendant, example: i work a lot of overtime, and sometimes ill bank the hours worked and put them towards days off, or i can take the cash on my paycheck. i take LOTS of fridays and mondays off using my vacation time...just so i can have long weekends and relax....well...computer sees that as a pattern, and im no longer allowed to take off a friday and a monday continuosly until jan 1st now!
