Exactly. If the tires aren't gripping anything, you're not stopping.

People so rarely respect bad weather. I drive slower when it's raining, and I'll be crawling in the right lane in the snow. I don't take chances. I get honked at, flashed (headlights, not titties), tailgated, and cut off all the time. Idiots think their car is going to respond like it would in dry weather.

I've crashed once. Took a curve too fast in icy weather and slid ass-first into a wall. I was fine. The 92 DX I was driving dragged the rear bumper home, but it was totalled (sparkle saw it... he came down and pulled the engine out for me.)

The funny thing was, i was practicing driving in the snow before that. I was in an empty parking lot just screwing around to get a feel for the car in the snow. Not so great IMO

My Accord did very well in the winter for me last year. I rolled all winter on some really crappy all season tires. I think I got stuck once. Having an automatic really sucked though. I much prefer driving a stick in the snow. Much more control over your power and much easier to engine brake rather than having to ride your brakes with an auto all the time.

I've got 4 Blizzaks on my Mazda right now and this car has been absolutely incredible in the snow. I commute over 300km/week to work and back and taken it to Montana twice since November and it has handled the worst possible roads and conditions that could be thrown at it.

Decided for sure my next car is a Subaru. Practical sports car I can drive all year round and have just as much, if not more fun in the winter.

I'm hoping to find a RHD 94-96 WRX or 00-04 Impreza or WRX that doesn't have a ton of miles on it for under $14k.

The Accord is decent in the snow. The tires make a big difference, as does your understanding of the car's abilities.

I need to find it... but accordtunerx had one hell of a snow drifting video posted years ago... It was in MD too.

awd and studded snows ftw. i dont drive anything but subaru when it snows. My car is so predictable, and controllable, even when going sideways

ill have to post some snow drifting vids from last winter

I don't think it's too bad. I'm not sure what peoples issues are. I drove home last night in the first snow of St. Charles county here in MO and I'm going as fast as old people screw.... anyway, I see tire tracks in the snow that are there ahead of me and these tracks go all over the place, from the left side of the road (on coming traffic) to the right and off into the grass and then into this guys mail box and just keeps going and going and going. All I can think of is saying to this person is "can you NOT take your foot off the gas for 5 seconds?!?!"

It's not that hard. Just take it slow.
Been a long time. Still alive...

Yeah CB's aren't too bad in the snow, mine makes it up mountain roads withOUT studded snows 90% of the time. i've had to back down a hill and throttle my way back up; but that was last year in my old coupe with shitty all-seasons. Driver's skill, attention to safety/awareness/details, and tires make all the difference between a "shitty" driver in the snow, or a good one. trust me, it gets rough up here.

                  life is good.

I've been teaching my brother how to drive in my Civic... I let him drive in the little flurry storm we had around 6am here. It actually looks like crap outside so I don't think i'll be teaching him next week.

As much as I hate winter, I actually enjoy driving in winter conditions because it is more challenging and keeps up your attention and skill.

I love the snow, it is so rare around here people keep themselves locked in at home and dont go out so there is plenty of road for me to drive in and unlike the other 99% of the year traffic doesnt suck.
