I've thought about doing this too, but I've also thought about the joy that Santa brings to a child. Sure I'd like my child to know that I got them the hard to get "hot" toy of the season, but at the end of the day the smile (jumps of joy, screams, etc...)from my child will be more than enough for me.

However, I have thought about how fun it would be for my future child to ruin Christmas for other kids in their kinder class, but that will only get me complaints from parents. Two things that my future child will not fantasize about are the tooth fairy or the Easter bunny.

Well that's all good. But if I wanna see my child jump for joy bc he got that new hot toy of season and that kid who picks on him in class that wanted it didn't, I'd rather him be jumping for joy bc his dad got it for him. Not some 300-400lbs dude in a red suit came down the chimney.

And all you have to tell him is don't tell the other kids in school that isn't real. Even if he did they can always go back to their parents and they'll lie to them saying he is real and feed them some line about it being real.

Every year my family from new York and north Carolina would come to my moms house in northern VA and we would have a crab feast. No holiday or crap like that. We just picked a day and did it. And we had a good 40-50 people in the house too.

People use the holidays as excuses to spend time with their family or make up for something they did wrong to a spouse, friend or lover. If I did my girl wrong the next day she would have a rose sitting in her car on her dash waiting for her along with a card. Other times I do it just because I love seeing her smile. But I don't wait for one or 2 days out of the year to show her I love and care for her.

Nor do I wait for one or 2 days out of the year to spend time with my family. I see mom at least a few times a month. I go hang out with my brothers practically every day. And my sister I see every once in a while because she works and doesn't really have a car. So I see her when she has the extra money to rent a car to come down. She has a $150k condo and lives off of noodles and whatever she finds in our fridge. Lol. She only did it because in a few years she'll be able to sell it for $250k or more. Haha. She has the best money sense out of us all.

And 4u2h8me. I REALLY see your point man. Haha. All those are really good.
But my work pays me to spend time with my family

National holidays are coordinated so scheduling plays a major role.

I think like you about Valentine's day, but my girl likes it so who am I to complain.

From a business perspective, companies have done a good job commercializing the holidays. Business is good so no complaints there.
