There already are armed people on many aircraft. The primary difference is that they actually know what they are doing.
You are absolutely right. If any citizen was allowed to carry on airplanes it would create mayhem in a terrorist situation. I suggested a STARTING POINT idea for a program that will allow citizens to purchase training and the right to carry on airplanes. This reduces bureaucratic costs which this country desperately needs from every possible alternative. Terrorist knowing about this program would likely dramatically reduce the frequency of terrorist hijackings.

I have a CWP. The last thing in the world I want to do is take a human life but I also believe I should have the right to do so if it means my life is in danger, no matter where I am in this country or this country's airspace.

Fair enough! Those were the latest I could find. I could find more recent, but I just don't have that kind of time. Perhaps you do.
Nevertheless, I believe my point was made. You can think otherwise, and I'm sure that you will!

Once again, when you purchase that airline ticket, you waive all of your rights!

I found, among your same statistics, that the burglary, rape, and car theft rates in Australia are MUCH higher than the U.S. It's not like the government there is all awesome and close to perfect, they have their own problems, just slightly different. Either way, ALOT can change in 10 years especially with each new governing body trying to change as much as they can to make their mark (at least in the U.S., don't know those details on Aus.)

You're absolutely right, once I purchase a ticket I AM signing away my privacy. One I enter a military base for an air show I am temporarily giving up my freedoms as a citizen and entering under military law, that makes sense. What I am saying is the contracts should be changed, the government does not have the Constitutional authority to tell a citizen it has no right to privacy, under any circumstances. Now you may say screw the Constitution, but IF our government is going to claim to rule by it then that's what they should do.
