    Homeowners!

To all CB7Tuner members that own or rent a home.

If weather in your area is getting colder and you see frost on your windows in the morning, now would be a good time to consider or schedule getting your sprinkler system winterized / blown-out.

Call a local licensed landscape contractor to come and do it for you. Most residential homes should be done for about $30.

If you don't get your system winterized, water in your pipes can freeze and crack the pvc. Then in the summer when your system is turned back on you will have bigger more expensive issues to deal with. Do yourself a favor and invest a little money now into your home as preventive maintenance for the future.

If a buddy or a neighbor says they can do it for you for free, and if you are in a money bind then go for it, but remember that a licensed contractor has to take responsibility for improper winterization, so if any damage occurs they will have to repair it for free, if a friend does it, you will be stuck with the bill for the repairs.

When choosing a Licensed Contractor make sure their ad has their federal tax id number and lcb number. Also it is vital that you look them up on your states Landscape Contractor Board website to make sure they are qualified to perform the services you are seeking.

Now that you are aware you can make an informed decision!

Along the lines of sprinkler systems, also have your furnances inspected and cleaned. This is the busy season for furnace service calls. $100 for a cleaning and inspection may save you lots of money and cold nights this winter.

And it's also a smart idea to cover up your Air Conditioner. With months of not being used ahead, you don't want debris or animals getting inside, same with water and crap with can mess up your electricals as bad as animals can.

I was at a service call last year for an AC unit that wouldn't turn on and there was a whole nest of mice inside it and they had chewed through a bunch of wires and needed a new circuit board, which that alone was $300, not including the labour.
