One of the major theories in crime control explains that laws are made from a group's interest. Obviously living in the south, there's deep rooted baptist beliefs, and living there, there will be a lot more laws reflecting those values. I dont' think anyone can argue that. I think it's kind of crazy to put someone in jail for sodomy... because I guarantee every guy or girl on this board is guilty of it. I guess there are exceptions for everything, though. But spending 25,000 dollars a year to house an offender like that seems almost pointless, though it does reinforce the state's interest in banning and getting rid of acts like that there.

I think *** relationships in general are moving forward, even at a slow pace. In 1986 they were deemed unconstitutional in Bowers v. Hardwick. I got interested in this when you brought it up in the other post and found in Texas v. Lawrence that all state sodomy laws were ruled unconstitutional. Then I looked at some of the criminal laws here in PA and there were sodomy laws... but the book I'm reading from is from 2003, the same year as the case. So I'm wondering if your state still uses them if you said it was last year?

Don't assume that just because I live here now, I've never been anywhere else. I was born in Germany, and I've lived all over the US, INCLUDING ALABAMA. You're not the only one who's gone through shit in your life. If sympathy is what you're looking for, I'm sorry. But you're going about things the wrong way. You lashing out at things you can't understand isn't any better than racists lashing out at black people, or homo-phobes lashing out at gays.
We need to change the world, but this isn't the way bro.

          scale the votes somehow
That is rediculous. So maybe white males should be allowed to have a heavier vote in anything related to the workplace, since it's the hardest for them to get a job?
