Need advise on losing weight and weight training

So here's the deal. I want to start working out and getting in shape. I don't care so much about losing weight as much as I do building muscle. I am asking for advise on meals, food, what to eat, how much and when...

What kind of workouts should I do? I am willing to go all in on this so please give me some pointers please.

i know water is very important but what about muscle milk? my friend drinks that and says i should drink it too after we work out. i had a carton today and it was gross to say the least. i don't really want to drink it but is there anything good about it?

building muscle? lift heavy weights/low number of reps and eat homecooked meals... and you will build muscle as long as you are consistent.

the key to getting proper nutrition is variety and no fast food. it is not rocket science.

just be very careful with the actual workouts, you can hurt yourself lifting heavy weights. get a pesonal trainer or read everything on bodybuilding.com if you are new to this.

or you could do P90X if you have the time to do something like that. i think it's a really good program

stay away from all things white.
most things that are white are artificially made that way (i.e. sugar, mayo, ranch, white rice, etc.)
Milk is ok just drink skim / non-fat

stay away from fast food, fast food is fat food

          stay away from soda

Eat foods with lots of colors and minimal sugars
          (veggies, fruits, etc.)

as far as workouts. Push ups, sit ups, and walking

there is no real need to run, but if you feel like u want to lose weight faster then go for it.

          set yourself a calorie limit

and last but not least stick to it and remember to not think of it as a diet, think of it as a way of life.

dont forget the cardio. i run 2-3miles on the treadmill before i hit the weights. the longer you have your heart rate up, the better. do not stop eating. if you just quit, youll set your body in survival mode. in this mode, the body senses its starving, and will convert anything you eat in to fat stores to be used later, causing you to gain weight. same for water... if you dont have enough, your body will store whatever to take in. kapeesh? i drink near a gallon throughout my day and eat like 5-6 small meals daily.

it also helps to get early morning workouts on an empty stomach. ive got all sorts of tricks from my military career. good luck and dont give up.
            DONT CHEAT YOURSELF!! MOTIVATE...DEDICATE! HOORAH

Motivation is the key. The moment you start , you WILL NOT STOP at all costs. Otherwise , you'll blow everything up. I suffered it , I hit the gym almost every day and suddenly I stopped and lost motivation. I blew it all sky high and I went back right where I started. Though I lost some weight and fortunately never gained it back.

In order to start the day you need some stretching and and warm-ups. Then you can go in and lift weights and do cardio. Be sure to drink water every 10-15 minutes depending on how you work out. Keep yourself hydrated or you'll kill yourself.

Plus , don't even think of skipping meals just for the benefit of losing pounds , you'll end up in worst shape than you are now.
