I have a particular story to tell:
I was at a gas station (of course) doing my thing when a young kid came up to me with a box full of these plastic toys and candles.
He asked if I'd like to buy any of the items from the box and the money would go to "insert name here" charity for young poor kids.
Feeling nice, I did so. The items were five dollars a piece or two for eight bucks !! Hell yea ! I bought a plastic change separator (one of those things that separate the quarters, dimes, and nickels) and a 3 piece vanilla scent candle set.
As soon as I pull my wallet out to pay the kid ( who was very nice and professional) a homeless man came up and asked for a few bills. I told him "sorry and that I'm helping the kid today, please leave" (he was getting really close to us). But he insisted that he was going to only spend it on booze and should get a small amount of money because he was being honest,
The kid must have had enough of this guy because as the man was begging to me, the kid said "get away from here old man !" (I was also threatening to use force or call the police) This guy was really getting close and who knows if this guy had any weapons. I could still imagine his terrible body odor and breath. Finally the gas station attendant told him to get off the property, which he did, but only to stand next to the curb looking at me until the kid leaves.
After my transaction with the young kid, the old man came back. At this time I was inside my car ready to go. Instead of asking for money, he asked for my cell phone... WTF ?!? He has friends to call now ? I said no and that I only had my blue-tooth (I don't know why I said that, but not like the guy knew what it was anyways)
So I just leave, but on my way out, I hear the kid running up to another kid on the other end of the gas station saying "a nice guy just bought two things, TWO !!"
Made my day, even though the coin thing didn't work and the candles smelled like crap
