Any of you guys recieve this a mail, telling you THIS! read thread

Well I just turn 18 like two month ago and last month I recieve this postal mail that say by law you have to register for the selective Service System. The website is www.sss.gov. What the hell, My brother and them never got anything like this. It also say failure to register is a felony and may result up to 250,00 in fines. Any of you guys got this in the mail.

holy shit i sent that thing in so LATE its not even funny. i would say close to 6 to 7 months after my 18th birthday. they kept sending them and i just put it off. didnt care. then the last notice said that i would be fined a hefty amount thats ridculous so i sent it in!

they send it to u becuz ur male that is 18 yrs old and either citizen or permanent resident.

they sent it to me and i just filled it out

Chill boys, no biggie. They've been doing this since I turned 18 almost twenty years ago. My question was always, 'If they know I'm turning 18, why do I need to register? Don't they know enough about me already? They know I'm 18, they know where to mail it...'

Anyway, some crap started during the Reagan years, I never understood why. Biggest problem you may have is not getting federal money for college, that sort of thing.

i wouldnt worry about that im 19 next month and still havent I dont feel like buying a stamp and taking a trip to the po.... I will in a little though i think

edit: guess i did it in my sleep.. it says i registered a year ago.

I sent mine in right away. I thought I remembered seeing something about a jailtime penalty as well... Whatever, it's not a big deal. The draft isn't coming back, and that's about all it's good for. Just send it in and avoid the potential headaches! And if the draft DOES get reinstated for any reason, I'd gladly trade my LX in for an EX-R!

fuck all that. i never received a letter ASKING me to register! they just sent me a car that read: "you____________ have now been registered into the selective servies of the united states." i was like wtf, i dint even get a choice. those bastards. but yeh man just register cuz my cousin tried to play stupid and they sent him a letter saying that on a certain date he had to register other wise he was gon get jail time. he got his ass up took money out his butt hole and bought a stamp maddd quikk!

i got something in the mail like 8 months before my 18 b-day and they said i could send it in early to get it over with and i did and nothing has ever came up about in and i registered 4 years ago.
