Its right but , if I have a ccw and some one comes at me with a knife or bat are you saying i cant pull my weapon? Only if I carry the same weapon as the attacker? The CCW is irrelevant here bc I really dont see him getting one, or even a gun for that matter. And MA gun laws suck!

Self defense is only a viable defense if you can prove that you were left with no other option. If it can be proven that you could have escaped, you will probably be denied a self-defense defense.

Excessive force is also grounds for a self defense claim to be denied. If a guy has a knife, and you and your 3 buddies unload 25 rounds into him... that's excessive. That would be shaky ground, unless you could prove that one man with a knife is a considerable threat to 4 guys with guns.



Self defense still doesn't mean you're going to just walk away from a fight without legal repercussions. It just means that you might avoid life in prison, or the death penalty if you killed someone.


Additionally, in a situation like this, if there was a previous issue that suggests violence may occur... it should be reported to the police. If you know it's coming and you do nothing to avoid or prevent it, the police (and any judge) will simply feel that you were looking for the trouble that you found.
