So today I ventured off into the realm of starters. My starter motor has been on its last leg for a month now and i finally bought a new motor yesterday. Today, i figured it would only take a few hours to replace it. So as im removing everything to get to the motor i begin to realize the task is a bit more daunting than i would've imagined. So, i finally remove everything ... except for the final bolt that holds the motor to the engine block and i cant get it off... -_- Its in the worst possible position a bolt could ever be. Its sort of underneath the starter towards a labrynth of hoses and sharp metal objects near the rear of the engine bay. It seems as if they built it like that to purposely make you frustrated, its the most poor design ive seen lol. Everytime i try to remove it, it seems more and more likely that the bolt is welded on by some sort of super strength hulk-like rust. I'm currently soaking it in wd-40 and i will try tomorrow once again. If anyone knows of a simpler way to do this task please help lol =]

If you think thats hard, try working on a Nissan. Honda is by far the simplest car Ive ever laid my hands on.

As far as Honda's go - The 5 cylinder is the hardest.

use more leverage, try to get extensions and then a 24" breaker bar if that bolt is too tight.

finally got it off last night, what happened was the previous owner had stripped the bolt.... so when i was trying to remove it, there was no grip thus making any job a headache. And yes other starters are harder to remove and they would be 100x more difficult with stripped bolts.... guaranteed. But my thread wasn't about merely removing it, it was about the poorly designed (and stripped), oddly placed bolt that made it difficult to remove. But I'm glad its taken care of.
