$640 is about what I paid for my 42". I have a weird off-brand, but it's pretty much identical to Vizio's build quality. My friend has been swearing by Vizio for ages. For a WalMart brand, they make pretty reliable stuff. When his 32" DID crap out, he had no issue getting it replaced under warranty.
It's amazing how cheap these TVs have become now! The high-end ones are still pricey, but the cheapies are really just as good anymore. I'm sure the same 9 year old kids in China are making the same parts for all of them...

i got the SAME exact TV man. 42" Vizio. love it to death. had the A/V cords on it while i was playing MW2 on 360. then i got an HDMI cable and my was complete. lmao. freakin clear as day.
and i feel the same way as you man. i wont be getting one of those stupid 3D TVs. no point to putting on those glasses every time i wanna watch TV.

I'm satisfied, and all my game systems are hooked up. PS3 Slim is behind the TV, just in case anyone was wondering. Haha.
Also got the two year extended service plan for free, cause my friend works at Walmart.
