1st gens are the only backwards compatible PS3's. As well as having an SD slot.

That's what I love about my 60gig version it does do everything, all the models after only do some of it, and it's the only model to have hardware backwards compatability all the others that are backwards comparable are via software emulation, well except bravia sync, only slims can do that

The PS3 went thru several versions, each one removing some capablities, but dropping in price as well. Xbox 360 still doesn't have Blu Ray, becase Microsoft doesn't want to pay Sony(competition & developers of Blu Ray).
