i cant find a site or the stie posted on here. where you can stick in your motors bore/compressions ratio.. etc and it will give you a rough estimate of your engines base horsepower

I don't think anything like that exists. Honestly, there's far too much involved for anything like that to really be accurate!

Cisco's engine calculator is the only thing I know of that's like that at all... but I don't believe anything is said about horsepower there.

I'm not sure what you expect... that spreadsheet, while it looks simple, is actually a pretty advanced tool if you know what you're doing with it.

Honestly, if you could just plug in a few numbers and get a horsepower reading, people wouldn't be spending a fortune on dyno tuning. That'd be like someone pinching your nipples at age 6, and telling you that your highschool GPA is going to be a 3.69 when you graduate at age 18.

haha yeh. well what i was looking for is to determine the new displacement of an engine and the difference between stock and the different pistons

Like, what the power difference would be if you increased the displacement and compression, right? Is the displacement change due to bore or stroke? Is the compression change due to piston dome, head milling, block decking, or combustion chamber alteration? Other mods done to the engine, as well as the condition of various static components (things present before and after the changes you'll be making) will have an effect as well.


See what I mean... there's just too much to take into consideration to really pull out any kind of estimate with a program. If one exists, it can't possibly be accurate. If you knew all the information necessary to make even a vaguely accurate guess via such a program, you'd probably know enough to make such a guess yourself, without the program.

The best thing to do is look up an engine that has mods done to it similar to those you're wondering about, and see what power it's making. Then you could assume you'd be in that ballpark. Maybe more, maybe less.

thats what im going to do i geuss

what i want to do was i have the basic stuff i want to do to my engine such as high compression pistons and port polish the head.. bore the block.

So what i wanted to do was compare stock displacement of an f22 to what my new motor would be. and if i just put in the bore/stroke and 85.0x95.0mm and put in 4 cylinders it come up 2156.31cc displacement which is a stock f22. so i figured if i would put in the bore/stroke/ compression of my new piston combination it would give me a rough idea of the displacement of the rebuilt motor

or am i just going crazy? lol i dont know much about this stuff.. i can assemble them but when it comes to boring/ milling engines and such i take it to the shop and have them do that stuff than i build it

Cisco's calculator should be able to tell you that. Horsepower, no. Displacement after changing bore and stroke, yes. I haven't played with it in quite a while (probably v.1... It's an awesome tool though.)

and yeh i remember playing with it a long time ago and i couldnt remember its name to save my life lol
