A reminder about selling on this site.

Just a friendly reminder...

Selling is to be confined to the designated Classifieds sections ONLY.


Starting tomorrow, all signatures that are directly selling items will be removed, and signature privileges for the offending members may be revoked permanently.

Any members caught selling to Beginners/Newcomers (under 30 posts) via PM or "visitor messages" will be banned permanently, no questions asked. As will the members that are attempting to buy.


How will we know? People tell us. We have our ways of finding out. Hell, the person you're offering your item to may even be a moderator using another name.


Just don't do it. If you're too lazy or stupid to use the Classifieds section of this site, you are more than welcome to go to Craigslist, Ebay, or any other forum on the internet. Just don't do it on this forum... or you won't be allowed on this forum.



It will not be up for discussion. If we catch it, we will simply ban you. No warning, no chance to justify, explain, or defend yourself... we'll just ban you. We give you all you need to buy and sell as safely as possible on this forum. Please respect the rules of this forum.

The no selling in a sig has been around for a couple weeks. It will now be enforced.

Alright lets say someone posts a thread. Lets say they have a problem. When they come to the bottom of the issue they find out they need a part.

Would it be acceptable to say " hey look i have ( or so and so has ) the part for sale " Then link them to the for sale thread?

id say no, just PM them...it doesnt risk anything and you get right to the potential buyer.

If it's a Beginner, don't risk it. If it's a regular member, link them to your for sale thread. Conduct your business there.

Your sig is good enough. A link saying your're parting out isn't really specific enough to be a problem.

Not really. Links to for sale threads are allowed. Just specific "I have this part for sale!" sigs aren't allowed.

I just banned two newer members for ignoring those rules. I hate to do that, and I'm sure they were both honest members...

Still, I hear too much about scammers even with things set up the way they are. If I allow people to circumvent the rules that are set up now, it will be even worse.



I swear, is it really that hard to get 30 posts about a car that you claim to be passionate about? Is it that hard to read a few paragraphs (that are written intelligently... not in dumbass txtspeak...)? Is it that hard to plug in a password?
If that's too hard... how can we trust someone to properly ship a part, or make a payment?



I'm only saying this now because one of the now-banned members said "I feel like I'm being picked on"... as they always do... everyone thinks that I have it out for them, which is funny, because I usually don't even know a new member exists until they become a problem. I'm saying this publicly so people won't be caught off guard. I know not everyone looks in OT, but most people do... and I wanted this to be something that can get responses.
