    crashed

So I crashed my car tonight

I was driving down a steep hill, and entering a parking garage. When I hit my brakes to slow down, I lost traction and started to slide into a large concrete barrier. Even with counter-steering and such, I still ended up smashing into the barrier.

    The damage is:

Drivers side bumper light - fucked
    Bumper - fucked
Drivers side turn signal - fucked
Metal crossbar thingy that's over the headlight - fucked
    Hood - sort of fucked

Sliding into that was freaky, not able to control the car, and just waiting for it to slam into the barrier.

It's kind of ironic that I was going to get my car inspected tomorrow also, but now I'm going to the body shop instead.

Oh, and my insurance doesn't cover accidents like this, so it's all coming out of my pocket

Everyone, please be careful driving in the snow, I am lucky that this is all of the damage done, and that neither I nor anyone else was harmed in the incedent.

Damn. The snow was very slippery tonight here in SC. Sad to hear. hope it doesn't cost too much to get the stuff fixed.. if you get the parts though, you can pretty much replace everything.. you'd just have to get the crossbar fixed, and same with the hood, or, it's a good excuse to get a CF hood..

meh, I'm just going to the shops tomorrow, and seeing how much $$$ it will take to make my car just pass inspection. I mean, I'm not even going to have my car for another few months since I'm moving to Austin,TX.

Hopefully it won't cost more than a couple houndred of dollars.

Well, I went to the body shop this morning for an estimate, and they said that a bare bones repair just to make the car legal and safe would be over $900!!!

fuck this. I need a new car.

I went to Joel Confer Body shop, and they did a whole computer estimate, which factored in labor for each individual part, etc. and the total was over $2700. That's well over what the car is worth. I just need a car now that will hold me over until June when I move to TX.

WOW! You must radiate "idiot" those guys... Screw that!

Call Certifit in Pennsauken NJ. You can get a new hood for $43, a bumper is probably close... The lights are easy to get. Hit up the classified section here and I'm sure someone will have their stock pieces lying around somewhere! That or get some ebay lights. The metal crossmember thingy can probably be banged into shape again, or you could get that piece from a junkyard (hint: talk to soysauce!) If you want that stuff painted, go to Maaco. They run sales this time of year (since no one in their right mind gets their car painted in the winter...except poor students like me!) You can get the $500 job for $250.

So, the grand total will be no more than $500 including gas money and lunch for your trip to Jersey! And you can get your entire car repainted... How's that sound!

Well, as it looks now, I'll probably be getting a new car. I've had alot of fun with my CB7 with the short time I've been with her, but it's time to upgrade. I found tehe same exact car as mine, but it had 20k less miles, and it was a stick....turns out it was just sold

If at all possible, I'll try and get a 4th gen Accord, just this time it will be a stick shift.

My other idea is to get an older truck or SUV, then take that down to TX in the Summer when I move.

If I kept my car, and repaired it, I'd need to do sooo much stuff to it to make it able to move down ot TX. I can feel the tranny is going, and there is rust everywhere That's amazing the kind of deal you can get, but I would probably get a couple of tickets along the trip to NJ, and who knows if my bumper will stay on when I'm on the highway.

I just need to find another car before the end of this month, my inspection sticker expires on the 31st

hey i know a guy that is just outside of town that does really good work and cheap too! he's done all my families body work ever since i found him several years back.

example: i have a mazdaprotege got hit by another car from the side.... everyone in town wanted like $1900-3000.... i went to him and he got everything done over one weekend AND only charged me $750. He does alot of custom work on old cars but he likes doing "easy" stuff on the side too.
The spot is called Stan's Auto body.
