planning on getting a new car .. any suggestions?

Get an srt4 its reliable cheap and as long as you dont turn the boost all the way up you should be straight and its affordable.

Im on my second motor because i ran the car too hard but it was covered on the warrantee to my own mistake i downshifted to the wrong gear and overrevved and spun a run bearing but the motor didnt go and i hard the dealership fix it for free.

He should get one that hasnt been touched and still has the stock turbo imo. If he can can change the oil and such he should be great. If he doesnt know what hes doing it isnt for the timid. Just dont get a bullshit one that hasnt been taken care off and there shouldnt be a problem. The parts are cheap and they do last though

Unless Im getting a car with a warranty I wouldnt want a loan on the car.....for 7 grand you could find a car in good condition...which is likely....or you could find a car that appears to be in good condition but really isnt...which is also likely....then your out 7 grand and you still have to fix the thing out of your own pocket.

If you know everything thats wrong with the cb....fix that shit....it cant be more expensive than getting a whole new car....then drive that for 2 years while you focus on fixing your credit....save up another 5-7 grand during those 2 years....then you can have a nice down payment on a newer car with a fairly manageable loan.

Honestly thats exactly what Im doing....cept replace the cb with an eg hatch (daily commutes makes me have to have atleast 35 mpg in my car)....my credits shit as well...but I was told that if I am not late on payments or I dont miss payments for 2 years my credit will be good enough for me to secure a car loan through my bank.....I havent missed payments or have been late for 6 months...so Im only 1.5 years away from either a dodge cummins diesel truck or a toyota tundra.....In 2 years mpg will me negligible as I will be living closer to work.

If one can be found that has never been touched, then yeah... Even though any warranties are certainly up by now. They don't even make the Neon anymore! Or that engine, for that matter.

The majority of them have been run into the ground. That's the point. Cheap turbo car, easy to get, easy to upgrade... it's a disposable car. You beat it, you break it, you dump it on some fool that doesn't know any better. Anyone who really knows what they have, and really cares, is like you... not selling. And when you do sell your car, if ever, it'll probably be after you've given it a pretty good whooping.

this is about 3600$ in parts for things that would definately help out my car. ill have an extra 2k$ for paint/wheels/ or system ..

any other things i should consider getting and are the approx. prices on there kind of close?

one word. subaru. you can pick up a good 04 WRX for around 9k and subaru has one of the best reliability records out there. and it's awd

I'm gonna advise against dropping $7,000 into your car. I know that's not the popular thing to say (especially on this site) but I can speak from experience.

I had $3,000 into my quarter panels, and then another $1,000+ into wheels/tires, and then I crashed it. I could have saved it for another couple of grand, but at what point is it worth it?

I mean, I didn't have collision coverage on my car, but even if I had, I would have gotten probably what, $2,000 for it from insurance? The blue book value on our cars are incredibly low, which doesn't work in our favor.

If you're buying a car for $7,000 in theory the book value should be around that point, so if something did happen to it, you've got the book value working in your favor.

If you wanted to drop a grand or two into your car to get it reworked, then yeah, that's not so bad.

Putting money into an old car is a hobby, not an investment. Honestly, $7000 into my CB7 would get me more of a car that I'd want to drive than a $7000 stock WRX.

Speaking of WRXs... I was shopping about 2 years ago for them... and anything anywhere near $10,000 back then was well over 100,000 miles... and everyone I knew told me to stay away.

Old stock turbo cars with high mileage are NOT smart buys if you want reliability. They might be ok, but chances are they are not. If they were owned by someone who knew what they had, they were probably beaten. If they were owned by someone that did not know what they had, they were probably neglected.

The CB7 is a great platform, but they ARE getting old. Unless you're willing to put out the time and money to properly restoe it, THEN modify it... it's not really the best option, sadly. Well maintained, they still have plenty of life in them... but if restoration isn't part of the plan, it will eventually fall apart around you. Restoration will cost a good amount of money to do it right.

by restoration what do u mean ? my car has no rust on the body . the problems are really just the suspension, wheel bearings in the back, motor mounts, radiator . if i were to fix my car ill change all of these and do an h23 swap because this f22b1 i have is weeaakkk .
