    Poor Tsunami victims...

Usually just from watching the news, you dont' get the full or even partial impact of what actually happens with something like this. Check this link out and let me know what you think.

I think slides 5 and 6 are the worst...

I know it doesn't compare at the same or even close level, but if I can offer advice from my experience with the 2 hurricanes in florida last year I will try. Both hurricanes made official landfall about 5-6 miles from where I live so we're considered 'dead center' for the damage radius. What we wanted the most was to get life back to normal as best as possible. No power, no refridgeration, no AC (in sweltering humid weather, especially humid b/c of all the water lying around), no tv (!), no computer, no internet, no cell phone service (no way to let people know we're ok), nowhere to buy food or water..the most difficult thing was just to get the luxuries of life back. The damage, the changed landscape, it was really small stuff when you have no power or little comforts. If you can just get things like power and roadways up, we can adjust to most everything else. We will adjust to the changes in life, but it's near impossible to do anything without the little things we take for granted. Of course I didn't lose anyone in the hurricane, so of course I can't relate on that level, I won't insult anyone by acting like I can. But to sum up, sheer levels of sympathy won't do a thing, its just getting life back to normal that you want the most. I have several indian friends, one of which has family in Sri Lanka (one of the places hit very heavy b/c its an island) thankfully they're all ok, I assume none of them lived towards the water, or there would be little hope for them. Another guy I know left around Dec 20th or so b/c he had to attend his mothers funeral, while he's over there a phucking massively devastating tsunami hits. WTF is that about. Talk about bad timing all around. Thankfully he's ok as well, and he's coming back tomorrow (i gotta go pick him up at west palm airport tomorrow).

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Yeah, out of all places, Aceh got hit the hardest...I think 100000 out of 150000 people that died so far are from that province...Thank God the waves didn't get to hit Java island, especially the capital city Jakarta, 'coz that's where all my relatives live...If the waves would have hit Jakarta, there won't be a city named Jakarta anymore, 'coz that city right now is already sitting under the sea level...

My uncle is actually a mayor of one of the province in the Sumatra island...His province didn't get hit too hard, and the damages weren't as bad...But he told us that so far, 120 people have died from there....Pretty big number, since the population in that province is pretty small to begin with.....

On the day that the tsunami happened, my uncle was actually in Jakarta, because his son (my oldest cousin) was getting married there......Some scary stuff, but I'm glad none of my relatives got hurt tho...
