yea that stupid delivery charge sucks....
and we dont get that really, mayber the $1 per run and it may go to our $5 an hour wage
          so i get it tho
i did bug my store enough that i got the owner to let me hand out free delivery coupons, and the good and average tippers always get those
saves them money and they are more willing to tip each time
          so helps us all

They average 5-10 delivery/hour... so that's $9-$14 per hour. And that's on a SLOW day. Some nights he's delivering 15-20+ pizzas per hour. IMO, that's damn good pay for delivering pizza.

But, I still tip around $2.
shit i remember i use to get paid 7 bucks an hour plus the dollar per trip then tips.idk about delivering 15-20 pizzas per hour tho.ok money.

Why does a waiter/waitress get at least 15% of the bill, but a delivery driver is lucky to get 5%? They do deserve it but, they don't use their gas to bring YOUR food to YOU. No Worries about speeding tickets. No matter how bad the weather is we're out there risking our Asses to get YOUR food to you in a timely manner. Sitting in soaked frozen shoes and socks for hours, walking through the foot of snow you were too lazy to shovel, up to your dark icy steps, and waiting for 5 minutes for you to come to the door cause you were in the basement, shower, whatever, then you have to find your money. Never knowing if the next unlit house has someone behind the bushes waiting to jack you. The place I deliver for pays me $4/h and i'm the highest paid driver because i answer phones and work the oven too. They have a $2.50 delivery charge which drivers get half of. People think the tip's "included". $5 is a good tip with pretty much any total. I remember most of the good tippers, but I NEVER forget the people that don't tip Soo yeah you should tip the pizza guy.

                sorry bout the rant

i use to be nice and pleasant towards all the customers (big tippers or cheapskates) but i've basically gave up on that cause the cheap tippers have grown. i only remember the non-tippers and the big tippers for different reasons. i'm sure most can agree with me when i say tipping is optional, as is service

Pizza guys can deliver 5-20 pizzas in an hour. Each stop should only take about 5 minutes to get to, and the actual customer interaction takes a minute or two. Say the average hour is only 7 deliveries. The average tip is a low $2 per tip. That's $19 an hour for what i would consider a very slow hour. Gas consumption, unless you drive something stupid, should be no more than $5 for that hour. $14 an hour.

A waiter has 2-6 tables in most cases. Not all are always filled, and the people are going to be there for an hour or more in many cases. The waiter is CONSTANTLY checking on them, interacting with them, getting them whatever they need... It is (or at least should be) far more than taking an order and bringing it to the table. Say 4 tables are filled (at Outback, where I last worked, the MOST you'd have is 3 tables at once... usually only 2 on busy nights) and each check is $40. A 15% tip on $40 is $6. That's $24 in tips, and $2 for hourly pay. $26 per hour. Nearly double the pizza guy's pay. Not bad, right? But that entire hour is spent bending over backwards for the customers.

I've done both. To be quite honest with you, pizza delivery is MUCH easier. The amount of work you do for the amount of money you earn is a MUCH better ratio! As a waiter, I could walk out with $120 in a night... but I felt that I earned every penny of it... sometimes, that wasn't even enough for what I went through! With pizza, I'd have some nights where my hourly pay and tips COMBINED were $35... and I was happy with that, because I sat around watching the Simpsons and eating free wings all night.

Yeah, but that driver still wasted his gas to bring you your pizza, and papa gets the $2. I suppose you're one of those "well he should get a better job then" people, eh?

Tip your driver, or go pick up your own pizza and avoid that $2 charge.
