all i know is that its really hard, especially for a DIY, to do a remote start for a manual.

mainly b/c if you leave the car in gear, when you remote start it, it'll drive away, lol.

but seriously its hard even for experienced shops. not many manufacturers make remote starters for manuals cars. there only a handful of people that dare to do it

i shall be one of them! my man is gon hook me up

A shop over here runs a circuit (don't know exact terms) to the e-brake to see if its up to allow the crank.

That sounds alright... I'll have to get one for a manual soon.

yeah, but the car can still move, even if the e-brake is up! i've seen it happen!

its something like that, but a lil more complicated. thats kinda the ghetto way of gettin it done.

Is there any wire in the car that will be charged if the car is in gear/nuetral? If so you could wire a quick security check.

But i just bought my remote start/keyless and id love a DIY

remember for remote starts in manual cars, you will need to bypass the clutch starter kill. that shouldn't be too hard. other than that, electronically i don't see the difficulty in installing a remote start in a manual car. it should be the same as installing one in an automatic. having the car in gear is a "risk", but it's a big risk nonetheless. that's what makes it illegal and why most shops refuse to install one.

share the DIY with us! i want to be cool like JDMcb7 and start my car from far away so my interior gets warm before i enter on cold nights.

I didn't install mine myself, when I worked at Circuit Shitty I had one of our installers do it for some cash under that table. As far as wiring it up in a manual, he showed what he did, and all he had to do was cross the clutch wires. Not too much different from an auto I don't think.

best thing to do is just turn your wheel to have it face the curb, so if it jumps or anything, it just hits the curb...

plus, you can keep it in neutral and the curb will hold the car's weight in case of not pulling the e-brake high enuf or something.
