Heres what I recommend.....Go with the iphone on a plan....my girlfriend and I went in on a couples plan just before xmas and we pay 150 a month for both of us (it is more in Canada)....we have tons of extra crap on it...so if you dont need some of the extra stuff (i cant even remember what we have) then itll be cheaper

It seems that recently though the carriers in canada have stopped offering unlimited data coverage....I used to have it with my blackberry storm but when I switched to the iphone they said the most we could get was 3 gigs a month....split between us....but really with the amount of places that have wifi and the fact that we spend most of our time around places with wifi the lack of data isnt really an issue.....so much so that we only have 500mb between us and we dont ever come near it....and believe me I spend ALOT of time on the app store, internet, various apps

Get the iphone....I used to have a itouch and a phone....but it just makes more sense to have 1 phone that can do everything....rather than 2 things that barely add up

Thanks for the info. It does make sense to do it that way. What are the phone specs that you got? Price? storage, etc?

        Who is your plan with?

How much, do you think, it'd cost to have 2 iphones with the bare minimum plus, say, 500mb/month data plan?

I was hoping you'd say get the itouch... I want one now, lol

I love my second gen 16gb touch. Don't use it alot nowadays, but still love it. Wish it had a camera and built-in mic, though.
you could always buy the remote headphones with mic. i have one for my nano but the recordings have a high pitch noise in them. my guess is since the backlight is turned on while recording, it records the frequency given off by the electricity at the same time. the remote is really damn good though and really good for itouch and iphone users

The phones we got are the 8 gig 3g....Considering its only an 8 gig it has enough room on it for me....I have 175 songs on it (i like music...but a narrow variety)...downloaded 31 apps....and I know that the ones like madden and nfs shift cant be small files....and I still have 5 gigs left....id imagine if you start putting on movies itll take up space quick...but even with my old itouch (8 gig also) i had 300ish songs and the first 4 seasons of entourage on it...after that though it was essentially full.....for 100 bucks (again 8 gig only) it is by far the best deal for a phone.

We went with telus....but for prices bell and rogers will be comparable....for me customer service is a big deal though....Bell just fucking sucks....rogers isnt bad...but telus is by far the best....i know you didnt ask about that but i figure i should give my 2 cents.....which is stay the fuck away from bell.....i do have experience with all three also

Im not sure, but, I think you guys can get a monthly plan for around 100 bucks...probably a bit more after fees and shit....but considering 2 years ago I was paying that alone for my blackberry its a pretty good deal.

Ahhh sorry I kinda ruined the iTouch for ya haha....Id recomend one if you already had a phone....but since your in the market for both....there really is only one choice

When do you come to Canada.....before summer?....come to our meet haha

Yep, I'll be doing that. $100 per 8gb phone plus $100/month is a pretty good deal considering.

Telus, you say. That's good to know. My Fiance had Fido which is on the Rogers network but that's for Toronto only.

Does telus also offer internet/cable tv? It'd be a bonus to get a package deal

Most net providers I've looked at are capped. Who do you have and do you have a cap?

If I remember correctly your going to be in Peterborough correct?....If so your only real option to have everything under one bill is with Bell....unless rogers has expanded to include peterborough.....but I dont think they ahve....telus does offer tv and internet....but its only out west.

If your going to be in GTA area go with rogers....If I didnt not pay them for 6 months Id still be with them....they offer tv, home phone, net, cell

And ya I believe most net providers do have a cap....Im with cogeco (which i think covers peterborough also)....I pay 120 a month for tv, home phone and internet.....the tv package I have has all time shifting channels, all hd channels and some other crap I couldnt care less about.

My internet is capped at 60 gigs a month....which for me really isnt an issue....just gotta watch the game downloads....it might be a bigger issue for you though......they do offer up to I think 110 gigs a month....but i think its stupid expensive....my only grip is about once every week or two itll just drop the signal....and when that happens i cant use the net or the phone....but resetting the modem fixes that.....it is pretty fast though....much much faster than bell

If you couldnt tell....i have a deep dislike of Bell lol

                    Been doing some homework

I've been looking around on specs for IPod Touches as well as Phones. I'm thinking about just getting a 32gb touch and getting a normal dumb phone when I get to Canada.

Just to make sure, when I get a Touch I can upload any music/video that I have on my computer, right? Do I have to use itunes or is there another software that I can use that isn't Apple. I'll probably jailbreak it as soon as I buy it.

Also, does anyone know how to overclock the CPU? It's an 833mhz proc underclocked to 600mhz. OCing will drain the battery faster as well as create more heat but... I want to know anyway :P

The 2nd gen's are 620mhz underclocked to 533mhz. I think they can be OCed. From what I've read the 3rd gen 8gb is the same as second gen in terms of hardware. It may be cheaper to buy a 2nd gen and just pay for the OS upgrade.

Where is the cheapest place to buy a 32gb 3rd gen touch and what is the price?
Where is the cheapest place to buy a 2nd gen? Warranties?

                    Which would you pick?

                    Additional info.

                    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Touch

Does anyone notice a difference in performance between the touch and phone? I'm wondering how the different procs and RAM compare.

nowadays, the bill for having an iphone isnt that bad. if you want any of the newer touchscreen phones, across any network, its gonna cost about the same. the good thing about being on att instead of something like verizon, is that you get an iphone, not a droid.

and if you have an iphone or ipod, you can get some cheapo car radio like i did.

one of the most cheap brands out there, or should i say high quality walmart shit, BUT it works... and quite nicely i might add. not to mention i have yet to see another radio with this feature. although the best feature would have to be the $80 price tag. if it ever gets stolen, who cares.

Yeah, it's just that I don't want to wait anymore. Being able to use WIFI on an Ipod Touch is damn sweet.

I have no idea if I'd get an Iphone or not. I don't really know the differences between the iphone, droid, etc.

Where's the best place to buy? Apple has 32gb for about $250 - refurbs.
