    Possible trade?

I was browsing Kijiji and came across a nice Arcadia Green '91 EXR coupe for sale for $900.

Tan interior, sunroof, all the goodies an EXR has. It's a 5 speed with a newer clutch. Guy says its really clean, other than typical Honda quarter panels starting to rust.

It needs a rad, which I have. Other than that it's good to go, but it's kinda high miles. Just over 300k KM (just shy of 200k miles).

I offered my SE as a possible trade, but I get to keep all my mods and put them on the coupe. I know the SE is rare though. I'm waiting for the guy to get back to me, I sent him pics.

    What do you think?

'91 SE automatic sedan with 211k KM (~130k miles) and in really good shape and no rust for a '91 EXR 5 speed coupe?

Am I just being stupid? I love my car. But hey...I also love arcadia green and 5 speeds.

This guy is asking $900. I stole my SE for $800 2 months ago. I'm not into for much money, and I have a complete parts car. Hmmmmm. If he emails me back,I'll go look at it this weekend.

Sounds like a cheaper option than doing a repaint and a 5 speed swap!

^^ yea definitly. swap alone is lots of $$ i say its worth it. i kind of did the same. i got a 99 accord auto. but im driving the 93 ex cuz its a 5spd. i cant go back to auto. im pretty sure your gonna feel the same

If I do the 5 speed swap in my car,I'd be buying a new clutch and all the other associated innards. So right there is $$. Repaint will probably cost up to $1000ish, cuz I'll just go to Maaco.

However, if this EXR has quarter panel rust,I'd have to fix that. I have to really see the car first before I make a decision.

After I drove my 5 speed parts car, compared to my auto SE, the stick is a rocket and I want one bad. I don't have to spend the money on buying a tranny and all that cuz it's already in my donor car, but like I said, I'm going to replace the clutch and everything because why would I put it back in with a clutch that has 100k miles on it?

It'd be as if I owned a slushbox and someone was willing to trade for a stick. I'd say "fack yah!"

Do it man. If that's what you want, go for it.

          life is good.

hey, if you're coming out satisfied, why not.

the only thing i don't understand is why the seller would want to trade an 18 year old accord for another 18 year old accord. kind of counter-productive for the seller, no? as they're trying to get rid of the car.

...or there's more to it, and the seller simply wants a trouble free car to drive?
            My pictures/photos will return soon...

Dont trade the SE its a canadian SE its too rare to trade like that.

Besides the point you will lose : heated seats, heater mirrors, f22a6, abs, and 4 wheel disc brakes. Plus youll get a broken car.

And you have a 5 speed swap doner anyways you just need some time.

Does your SE have quarter panel rust? If not, don't trade.
If so, then I'd say it's pretty even. His mileage is higher, which isn't great... Are you planning on swapping or building that motor?

See this is where I am torn....

Mine has no rust, except on the quarter panel dog leg where it is damaged, which is going to be repaired anyways. He said his has quarter panel rust, but not much.

I don't care if I lose the heated seats and mirrors and stuff cuz really, you only need heated seats with leather cuz it's cold and hard as hell. I find the cloth seats in my parts car to be really plush and much more comfortable.

His coupe needs the radiator to be repaired. I don't know what happened, but I guess it got a leak or something and he said there is no rad in it right now, so this is where my parts car comes to the rescue.

Also, if its the F22A1, so is my LX, so I have all the spare parts I need. That also includes a sedan trunk swap so I can keep my red/clears.

I have to see the car first before I make a decision. A 4 door is nice to have just for the practicality, but really, I'm a single guy and I rarely have more than 2 people in the vehicle.

We'll see. I think it'll also be easier and less effort to fix quarter panel rust that to fix the qtr panel dog leg, replace a door and have it, the front fender and front bumper repainted.

However, I'm also torn because I do like the fact I have an SE. It's the only one I've seen around here.

Alright i wanted to chime in, i read all of this. Well if i was you would continue to own the SE, just because its a SE with no rust. Im sure thats rare, and once you let the SE go you might never get it back, and especially when you see the car was involved with a wreck and you say why did i ever let that car go. I would suggest to stick with it. Im not sure if there are plenty of EX-R's around but a rust free SE is better in my mind.

I also noticed you would like to stay with a sedan, like arcadia green and 5spd. Happens to be i drive a 92 arcadia green 5spd sedan. lol

Only reason I ever bought my car in the first place is because my previous car had blown the engine and I needed a car before the start of the next week. I found the Accord for $800 on Kijiji and I figured screw it, I'm going to just go and buy a reliable and practical car, no more shitboxes.

Turns out, after years of swearing I would never own a Honda, I have fallen in love with my Accord. If I had the cash, I'd just outright buy the coupe, but I don't have $900 at my disposal. I keep trying to find Accords under $600 that I can buy for cheap and fix and drive as a 2nd car. I might end up buying an 86-89 cuz there's tons of them around for cheap.

Decided I am going to keep mine, and I offered to sell the guy my parts car rad for $40 plus $40 for gas,cuz he lives 2 and a half hours away in Calgary.

He offered me the whole car for $700, as his asking price on kijiji is 900. I'm going to go look at it next weekend if he still has it and if I like it, I will just buyut and offer him like $600 for it.

Yea i would keep the rare SE as oppsed to the coupe. I just like 4drs and leather better.

Besides if you already have a complete 5spd parts car, then all you need to buy is a clutch, throwout bearing and rear main seal. That'll set you back $200 for OEM replacement parts store parts. Not bad. Plus the rest of the parts you sell off that car should cover that cost. No-brainer here, who wouldn't want the rarest SE made with a 5spd?

                              Very good point.

I think I could buy the coupe and just clean it up and drive it for a little bit and easily sell it for more than what I paid for it,and therefore make a little money on it,even if it is only a couple hundred bucks. But that's a couple hundred bucks that'll buy my clutch stuff.
