I went 100mph in my car today...

What the fuck was i thinking? I have no idea how you people manage to go that speed in your car and think its alright. Im never ever fucking doing that again. The steering wheel didnt even feel attached to anything anymore. Im so glad nothing happend that was completly fucking stupid of me. I just had to share my thoughts on this. The fastest im conftable with in the cb is 80. After that it starts to feel majorly unsafe. And i doubt it just my car because i've redone my suspension completly.

Moral of the story: Very bad idea

Maybe its just your car, mine feels very stable up that high.
Specially with an H22, if you're not careful you can be doing 100 without even noticing it.

I've gone faster... and it only gets worse. I've done 120-130 before.

I was deliriously tired coming home from MA one day (drove up, worked on a car, drove home... 6 hours each way)... Some douche in NY (4 hours into the trip) driving a Jetta wanted to mess with me. So we raced, weaving in and out of traffic.

I was playing Need For Speed Underground regularly at the time, and all I can say is that it felt like I was in a game. When I realized that I was really driving like that... in my old Accord... on public roads... I nearly panicked.

Old car or not, that's just too fast for public roads. Road conditions, unexpected obstacles, other drivers, etc... The cars AND the roads are not designed for it.

I'll occasionally go 80 or 90 in the Fit, when traffic is doing the same... on the highway. But even that's rare. The amount of time saved by going that fast really isnt' all that much. And the amount of time lost if you crash or get pulled over isn't worth the risk!

Even if the car feels totally stable, and sane human being should realize that maintaining control of a 3000lb object moving that fast is difficult. Especially when there's only about 80 square inches (tops) of rubber actually in contact with the road.

My CB feels planted and solid at speeds well above 100. Replacing the rubber bushings alone will do wonders for high speed stability.

But I second what deev said, no point in going that fast on public roads and endangering everyone else. I only ever venture about 100ish when I'm alone, road is empty, road is good condition, and I'm in a fast mood. Haven't been over 100 in quite a while, a wife will do that to you...

I have a full polyurethane bushing kit installed. I've replaced all my ball joints and struts with kyb gr-2's. I think its safe to say my suspension is in good condition right now. Maybe its my steering rack? my car could also use some tires. Hopefully im getting new ones this weekend. Regardless im still not going that fast in my car again. 80 feels about safe in it. It also took FOREVER to get up to 100mph. I was stuck at 90mph for so long. granted i was going up a slight incline i still drove about 4 or 5 miles before i hit 100.

i just hit a hundo the other day and i agree with you 100%. it is too fast for me and even though i have a little lead foot, i do not plan an going that fast again. my car feels stable but who knows what could have happened.

The H22 will fix that... as Rich said... it's VERY easy to get to 100 with the H22!

Fortunately, my exhaust is loud enough that it can't really sneak up on me.
Though I hit VTEC in 5th gear once without expecting it. To hit 5200 RPM in 5th gear, I had to be going pretty damn fast! I backed off the throttle real quick when I heard that!

Strange, you have an a6 5spd, correct? I can hit 90 easily on most interstate on ramps and 100 doesn't take much longer at all. It gets up to 120 relatively effortlessly and then the acceleration really starts to slow down from there. Never had it above 120 with the 5spd, had it up to 128 back when it was auto (that took a long time).

I've hit the limiter on the pt3 in uzume (taking one of the older kids to the ER), but haven't broken 100 since I put the p12 in it. I don't have any issues with her at those speeds. Start working on the suspension, but as stated, those speeds aren't really a good idea on the street.

One of you H22 guys want to video record your 0-100 and I'll do the same to see how much slower my f setup is than the almighty H? seriously.

A 200hp motor will propel a 3000lb car to higher speeds more easily than a 140hp motor. Especially with a transmission that puts the H22 in the ideal powerband at those speeds.

Not saying that the F22 is all that much of a struggle in all cases, but logic states that the H22 will do it more easily.

I've hit 100 easily enough in the Fit once or twice. 117hp 1.5L.

Granted, I'm just a "specs freak" and wondering what the difference would be.

I would probably check everything over again, bad tie rods can cause wandering. What size tires you have? If the car is low, it should feel even more stable than a car at stock height. I think everyone should make that a benchmark on tuning their car, to make it feel stable at 100mph.

And Deev, Vtec in 5th gear must be sick, I didnt wanna pass 5 grand because I always get the feeling Im running the car too hard.

Also Im not saying everyone should go out and do 100mph but Im saying your ride should feel stable at that level of speed.

                              hey rich, its the suspension

F&F are really good at high speeds
after the F&F the car's attitude as far as speed changed dramatically, and
it was basically the only thing i had done on the car

poly bushings, tie-rods, bearings, balanced wheels, etc.
come into play the faster you go

you can ask anybody in here, most have done over 100mph, and most do it every day

as far as in chassis wise, the cb is capable of comfortness @ 100+mph
