    Vin number

Im going to be changing my dash soon. The dash im putting in has a diffrent vin number on it ( obviously ). Anyways what should i do? Should i leave it? Remove it and leave nothing? Or try to put mine in there? Im not even quite sure how i would go about removing it. What could happen if i had that diffrent vin up there?

You leave it on there and the cops check it, youre fucked.

Find some way to switch out your VIN plates.

It's easy enough to switch out. I believe it's riveted on, but you could probably glue it on, and just leave the rivets there for show, so it looks normal.

The VIN is also on your firewall, and possibly the doorjamb... so there are more permanent VIN numbers on your car. If you have anything illegal (or at least questionable) on your car, it'll certainly make cops look harder to find it... but unless ALL the VINs are damaged, removed, or different, then they can't do anything to you.

BUT... just chaneg out the plate and don't worry about it!

It's the only VIN that can be checked from outside the car, which is why it's so important...unless you pop your hood of course. I would attempt to remove the new vin badge and replace it with your car's original one. Just my advice.

        life is good.

Honestly, I can't even believe this question .. not tryin to be a dick or anything .. but please ..
I almost thought this was like a joke or somethng, until I read it like twice ..

Please .. PLEASE .. remove the vin tag from your old dash before you install it ..
and rivet it on the new one .. do not drive without replacing it .. period!

Especially if you have modded parts, a different motor, a loud exhaust .. you name it ..
Man! Talk about asking for trouble !!!!!!!

Out here on the west coast, they wouldn't even fuck with you .. that car would be crushed ..
I dunno what the laws are like back there .. but c'mon man .. lets use our heads!

Most cops wouldn't check the VIN... and most cops probably woudn't know where to find the others... but if they do, yes, it could be trouble. Not trouble that you couldn't get out of... but it'd be a pain in the ass, and at least one day in court.

I mean Deeever .. seriously .. I'm really not tryin to be a dick here .. but you're so right!
They could make life reeeeal difficult .. if they wanted to be dicks about it ..
and trust me .. you get some highway patrol, drill sergeant hat wearing, ego prick cop,
and duuude .. your ass AND car are gonna be in such a huge sling .. it could be used as a hammock!!!

I mean, I've seen some questions asked here before, you know I've been here forever ..
I've even seen the same questions asked ... I dunno how many times .. but seerrriousl!
Asking this question, IMHO, is about the same as asking, "you know, I got a new rear bumper,
and I need to know if I should change the plates" .. .. .. duhhhh !!!!

                You have to be:
                A) wayyy young, and not know enough to know better ...
                B) so naive .. you don't know better .. or
                C) too dumb to know better ...

I refuse to believe the answer is C ..

drill it out and use a new rivet with a rivet tool and put yours on the dash. Its pretty easy if you have the tool

Yeah i decided to get my lazy ass up and tinker with it. It went through to the bottom of the dash so i could just push the rivits back out the top and get out the vin tag. Someone mark JHMCB7680MC090122 off the list of remaining cb's lol

What if i just leave no vin number there. My brother was telling me people will just read that vin number and go to the honda dealership and get keys cut and steal your car. I've done that before ( legally for my own car ) so i belive it.

If a cop sees no VIN, he'll impound your car on the spot.

A Honda dealer should NEVER cut a key without definite proof of ownership. If they do, they can get seriously sued.
