Halo 2 PC
Shadowrun
(havent played them in FOREVER)
Grand theft auto 4 PC
Battlefield 2 ( havent tried on windows 7 yet but worked fine on vista 64 bit )
World of warcraft
The sims 3
They all worked fine for me battlefield 2 required you to run the game as an admistrater to work properly thats it.

the only, and main issue i had was with tmpgenc xpress 4. it worked fine, except for the fact that i couldnt get it to recognize mkv files. and i know it wasnt operator error, because now that im back on win7 x86, everything works great.
maybe when i build my next computer ill try 64bit again. for now, my computer is happy and fast enough at 32bit.
i never even got to try any games. once i couldnt get the video files to be recognized, it was a dead deal for me.

I couldn't get CoD4 to run on my x64 7 install, though they may have a patch out for it at this point.
At my place of work we run 64 bit extensively (Redhat, Ubuntu, Vista and 7), and all of my desktops at home are running on 7 x64. Everything works great for me, aside from the CoD4 issues. Definitely worth it to have the extra breathing room in terms of RAM. However, if your utilization of RAM isn't peaking the ~3GB limit, then you really have no reason to bother unless you want to upgrade RAM without having to reinstall the OS. For those of us that do that fairly regularly anyway, its not really an issue.
From what I have read about Windows 8, it'll likely be 64 bit and possibly 128 bit compatibile.. so 64 bit isn't just going to be skipped.
EDIT: Here's some suggestions for getting tmpgenc xpress 4 working: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/3...in7-x64-please

And from what I read, there could be 128-bit support, but it will probably not be the base. If anything, it is indicated that 64-bit will be the only configuration available when the OS debuts, with a possibility for 128-bit support in the future. It is rumored, however, that Windows 7 will be the last 32-bit Microsoft operating system.

Why not use an updated OS?
7 is just as capable as XP, with a far nicer UI.
I think the ones dissing 7 are just jealous that their hardware can't keep up with the demands of Next Gen OS's.
So your PC isn't new enough for 7... boohoo... quit ranking on it just because you can't use it.
Windows XP is still an awesome OS.... 7 is just..... better.

nothing, really.... as I said... 7 is just as capable, meaning it can do what XP does.
So if you're looking for new technological breakthroughs to come to fruition with Windows 7, you are looking too hard. Historically, MS has taken baby-steps in advancing their OS's.... this is just another one of those steps.
Windows XP support should have been removed by now, but with the failure of Vista, they decided to elongate XP's shelf life.
Had Vista been a better OS, XP would be but the last flicker of a dying candle.

Win7 compared to XP is like comparing the Accord 4th gen to the Accord 3rd gen. Win7 is bigger and requires more power behind it but has a ton of beneath-the-surface creature-comforts that make it great. Like when you paste a file into a folder, it automatically arranges it in "whatever order" instead of having to right-click and "refresh" in XP.
When you single click on a picture, Win7 displays its properties on the bottom bar (size, date, camera model, etc).
When you single click on a movie it shows you the movie bitrate, length, etc.
Win7 has built in media codecs where with XP you have to instal codec packages to play some .avi .mpeg .other videos.
When transferring files from one drive to another, or usb drive to computer, Win7 displays the transfer rate in the "transfer progress" box.
Win7 comes with smart, automatic drive defragmentation setup. It even has a smart write feature that avoids writing single files on multiple sections of the drive....all behind the scenes.

I've had the Windows 7 ultimate software for a hot minute now, but haven't installed it. I think it's 'bout time I move on. So, soon I'll be saying bye bye to Vista and hello to 7. Any suggestions? I have to back up all of my data on a 32 GB flash drive first, but... here we come. The Lord watches over me!
