JACKSTANDS! lol...lift the car, get it on *stands, and get the tranny from underneath the car. your going to be using the jack alot, but it works. start unhooking as much as u can from the top (bay), and then lift it up, unhook/unbolt stuff underneath, and take it of...

lmao ah i read it wrong! i do have jackstands. i just talked to my friend and he said he could borrow his neighbors cherry picker to put the new tranny in .

Honestly, if I were in your situation I would not even attempt to fix this car, it will cost too much no matter how you do it. You need to start with a better base, IF you really need a car. Otherwise, I'd take advantage of hopefully an inexpensive/free living situation right now and work on getting a better paying job. Then, you'll have more funds and I would still get a better base car with minimal/no problems.

I am knowledgeable enough to help you technically, but I honestly do not feel it is the best answer to your situation. It will drain you EASY to the point you will have to borrow money or take loans just to complete your objective. Then, you'll be in a complete WORSE situation than you started.

That is all I am going to say...make the best choice.

Im with you too bro, but I once was in his pants, but worse. I had no money, and no food, spent all my money on a CB for 500 with a bad tranny, and replaced it with borrowed tools, and a JY tranny. it just took time and dedication (because it was the only thing gettin me to work the next day) but I did it.

JY would be ur first bet. try that first. they give warranties for a couple bucks more, if it dont work, youll already be a pro on changing them out.

Not that I agree with your decision, but you seem determined to somehow fix this car in your financial situation.

I highly advise you to network with the Florida Crew on here for networks and deals on prices/parts for EVERYTHING. Then, recruit some help from the same crew to achieve your MAJOR objectives that prevent this vehicle from being driveable and somewhat reliable. Prioritize your list.

I'm talking, if you can't pay cash to have these guys help, then take some money and make food/provide drinks for their help or something. Trade parts/items you have for parts/repair on your car, I'm sure you have stuff lying around you can get rid of.

hey man I feel your pain. My car got towed for $2500 is tickets and had to sell my other cb to get her back. then a week later the trans was gone. now she is sitting in the drive way till I get another tranny. I can get a used JDM F22B trans for $190. im here in NYC so im sure theres a JDM store out there with a fair price for one. do the work your self since you have nice weather out there unlike my self that I have to pay $250 to swap it in

If you haven't done this before, your getting yourself into a lot of research, reading, tools, specialty tools, and a whole lot of labor. I've had the engine out of my car 4 times now and I can do it in about 30-45 min. I don't have a lot of things that you probably do that makes that time longer and more troublesome. If you don't have the right tools your job will be impossible. There are places where you need a socket where a wrench wont go and places where you need a wrench with a 25 degree off set where you can't get anything into. *i'm just making a point on the 25 degree offset wrench btw*

Whenever you start a project you need to be prepared to buy not only the parts you need to fix it properly, but also the tools if you don't have them. Some cases you can rent them or find someone who will lend them to you.

And personally, I would much rather take out the engine and transmission with a cherry picker and stabilizer than trying to get the car up high enough to drop the transmission out from underneath.

No matter what you do, do it safely. This will be a whole lot worse if you get a broken arm because a transmission fell out of the bottom of your car on you.

I know plenty of people (including myself) that have swapped plenty of engines from underneath, on a CB especifically. Unless your not doing something right, no one should get arms broken. Plus saves him the time and money on having to get a cherry picker. just my 2cents...

kia motors was going to give me 7000$ for my car trade in and i was going to get an optima. unfortunately both of my parents have bad credit and i have no credit so its impossible for me to get any new car.

damn 7grand is pretty fucking good. your car must be clean lol.


just do all the basics. i replaced my tranny(crzy tuning) and a bunch of other stuff before i said fuck it and sold it. i think when the timing belt broke and left me stranded was when i just didnt want it anymore.

i still remember seeing the tranny for the first time. i was like "oh that little thing"...then my skinny ass found out it weighed too much lulz

yeah, that is a lot of stuff to get fixed. I just swapped my Rack and Pinion out about 2 days ago, It was a PITA, but I got it done. Cost me about 250 for the rack plus new tierods and then another 70 for the alignment. Took me about 5 hrs to do and I stripped out the U joint 10mm by not putting it in right the first time, so i had to run to the JY to grab a bolt and come back lol. Car's running great after doing that.

But anyways, recently, my sister found a great condition 94 EX VTEC 5spd Accord sedan on CL for 1700. It's mechically perfect w/ the exception of the ABS not working. But it needed nothing at all to be fit for DD use. The previous owners kept meticulous records on EVERYTHING and spent thousands of dollars at the dealer in getting parts fixed.

So the good deals are out there. You just need to find them. And you live in FL, tons of grannys w/ perfect low mileage accords! haha.

w/ all the problems you're having and no tools whatsoever to fix them, your best bet would be to save up maybe 2 grand and find the best condition accord you can. Just make sure you do a thorough inspection before you consider buying it. On my sister's accord, I went w/ my mom and my sister and brought along my jack and LED worklight and basically went through the entire car looking for possible problems. Took me a good 45 min checking everything, but hey thats what you gotta do.

You seem like you're pretty knowledgeable about our CB7s so put that knowledge to good use when inspecting these possible cars. That seems to be the most logical solution, given your financial situation and lack of tools.

depending if i receive some $$ by monday , ill b taking a new tranny to a shop. but if i cant im going to have to man up and do it myself. nothing more i can do .
