Okay do i need a router to play playstation3 online? because i have verison fios. Do i still need a router to play or can i use that?

FiOS is sweeet. And I think the answer here is no. Assuming that verizon already gave you a router with your connection setup, did they?

If they did not give you a router and you only have one ethernet cable coming into the house (ethernet cable, CAT5/6, RJ45 jack, whatever you want to call it), then you will need a router. The cable coming from outside goes into the router and all computers/PS3, etc, plug into the router.

I have a router that came with the fios but doesnt my ps3 have wi-fi and shit cant i just use that or will i need plug coming from the ps3 then plug that shit all the way to the router?

Your PS3 does have wifi, and as long as there's a nearby wireless signal you're set. Go into to your setting, and search for a viable signal. The console does a good job of walking you through the process. Let me know if you need some help. I've heard that Fios is the hot shit, it should be fun.

You don't need a router. when I got mines I didn't have one. all I had was the DSL modem connected to my PC. everytime I played I used the Ethernet cable and it worked better than WIFI.

Ya man, your going to wanna aviod wireless with the PS3. Its just too slow and you don't wanna risk any lag in FPS, etc.
