William, glad you finally got to talk to them and that theyre both happy. This weekend's coming up fast. Good luck man.
EDIT: Guess i could answer your question, lol. I didnt talk to my wifes parents, lol. Her dad's kinda crazy, lol, and her mom is cool sometimes. Her mom wouldve approved, and does now, but her dad thinks she did it to run off cuz she got prego, lol.
Nice sir but, shit, why did you tell your woman about talking to them. Doesn't that give the proposal away? lol or did you talk to them after. Congrats man, I hope to be proposing at the end of the month, when the 25th. comes Kinda nervous myself...Vi has no idea
Well, we talk about a lot of things. But when we talk it's more of marriage in general and how we see it in our lives. We know that we want to be with each other, but to actually ask her is up in my department. But it's brought up just through conversation. I've very traditional in my views of marriage and I said that I think that talking with the parents should be part of it. She got this look like "Are you crazy? Do you even remember my dad at all?" We started talking more about it and Julie and her sister talk about their relationships to each other. Monica - Julies sister, made the statement that their dad would try and talk me out of it or pressure me into following my career goals further before this.
But he was so amazing. I think he could smell the fear in my voice! lol
BUT I definitely agree with you that keeping it a secret is the best way to do it. Julie keeps asking me about when I'll be ready and I keep telling her "I'm just not ready right now." and we've had so many talks about it that finally I told her that I wasn't going to be ready until next year. It's SO hard telling her that but I can't just go ahead and let her know how F-ing close she is LOL She's decided to accept that its not happening this year and focus on school more. SHE'S CLUELESS. and Thank GOD she's not a member of the forum. I'd be so screwed right now. There is only 4 people who know about it, besides me and that's her parents and mine.
But, CONGRATS YOURSELF!
If you can truly surprise her it'll be something she'll remember for the rest of her life. Keeping secrets can be hard but even when your down to the hour of your proposal you shouldn't let her know anythings up! How long have you been going out together? Are you pretty certain she'll say yes? I really hope that everything you plan goes great. You must be as psyched as I am.
Yeah I'm really excited but nervous at the same time. We'll be going on 5 years on Feb 25th. I had kinda forgotten but she reminded me in December lol. I felt guilty...I hope she'll say yes. We've been talking about it the past year
EDIT And william, that's awesome man I'm so happy for you! she's a lucky lady you sound like a nice d00d

WOW, 5 years. That's quite a while. Lots of time to know one another . My ex girl friend had this wacked out view because her parents meet and in 1 day were married. Nothing like stress there. I was about 911 days too long. lol her parents believe that "God" led them to each other that night and so they both got married. (not going on religion, but that's crazy) Wednesday this week, the 10th, Julie and I will be going out for 2.5 years exactly.
Don't feel too nervous. After going out for 5 years, I can't see how she'd say "no".
And just google "proposal fail" in google and watch the videos. It always cheers me up that no matter what, it will never go as badly as those did.
Yeah, she'll say yes. We've been talking about it for so long now. She's ready and I know I am, so no worries there lol. I just have this mental picture about how it's supposed to all work out, like you I'm pretty traditional and conventional.
There's this place called Gove Hill, which is a retreat center on top of this, well, big ass hill in our town. In the fall you can stand out in the field on top and see all the neat tree colors and leaves and shit. It's where we had our first kiss. We started dating my last year of high school, her junior year. I waited a year to go to school after I got done with high school so that we could see each other still. Were together all throughout college, and moved in together soon after I graduated and she had one more year left.
We live together still now, and rent a place from my folks. My MRT is dedicated to her she's my everything and my one and only, and we broke up for a week once, because we had an argument over something medial and stupid, I can't even remember now. Other than that, we're always stuck together like crazyglue.
Still a little nervous though, but talking about it helps lol. Our parents are good friends, so that def. helps haha
