A lot of ppl are missing the point
Nobody is complaining about ppl not buying JDM
Just people buying not real
But even still, my question still stands
U have a $500 *real* lip, that apparently has tons of R&D done to improve the aerodynamics of cars that won't see track time (who will put a $2000 lip kit on a track car), and then a $100 knock off. Again, nobody- nobody- nobody who would buy a knock off would ever save up and buy a new real piece; and if they buy used the manufacturer sees none of that $$$ anyway.
Ppl knock Rotas and stuff... use ur brains guys... most of the wheels Rota copies are wheels that are out of production. Correct me if I'm wrong- Regamasters, Type-Rs, GT3s (whatever they're called) are out of production right? So how does Rota making knockoffs of those hurt the *real* companies? The only people it hurts are the people in the "scene" who scoff at people who buy "fake" parts. Most of the parts people beast for are no longer in production- that's why they are so highly sought. I don't think there's any money or customer base lost from imitation appearance parts and wheels.
Now for mechanical parts like intake manifolds & headers I agree that stuff should be done. But often times things have been done- remember the whole Tein spring fiasco? Don't u think if counterfeit parts were that big of an issue big companies like Regamaster etc would go after the counterfeiters legally? They'd be well within their right.
People need to relax. The whole idea of "protecting the scene" is ridiculous within the context of wheels + exterior parts.
