    modern technology

the other day i was taking a crap, and i thought to myself "its negative five degrees Celsius out, what would this enjoyable dump be like if i were in an outhouse right now?" Then i got to thinking about modern technology we take for granted, drive throughs, microwaves, indoor toilets, cars, tooth brushes... the list goes on and on. i dont know, just another random rant.

I wouldnt consider housing "modern technology". NOw, you could debate in-door plumbing, but if you really wanna get technical, our houses are just giant, multi-room outhouses, lol.

I think about this all the time.

Cell phones, video games, TV/Radio, ***THE INTERNET***.

Imagine if you didnt have the net, tv, video games or your cell. WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

We'd go back to going to our neighbor's houses or playing with the kids across the street until the sun went down, like my parents did. They didnt have anything we have today. They go dirty and into trouble with the law. Thats what i think kids are supposed to do--do a certain degree. Cell phones, (___) Hero and the internet have kept them indoors.

we'd probably be travelers, scholars, inventor, etc instead of the lazy, illiterate, people we are today. before it was all about knowledge but now its all about fashion, style, and music -_-

except for pilgrims.....they just burned anyone for any reason. then again, so did most of europe. well, whatever you catch my drift lulz

Just look at how far the personal computer has come since the 90's. I remember looking in old JCpenney catalogs, and seeing IBM desktops for $1600. They were a 286, and had Windows 3.1 on them. 5.25" hard disks which were floppy, and 3.5" floppy disks which were hard but they were still about 2 grand nonetheless. What about the CD? you guys remember when CD players took off and started to get cheaper? Then minidiscs, etc.etc. until nowadays everything is mp3 or 4. Craziness...Also, can't forget seeing Arospeed fart cans in the JCW catalogs, for like $250 before eBay really caught foothold too. Now you can get one for your Geo Metro for $25! Weird...

          life is good.

But, remember not too long ago, when you didn't have to worry about shit like "mad cow disease" h1n1, and all the other bullshit ailments.

I think kids now a days are pansies compared to how they used to be. They're soft. When I was younger, if you fucked up to the point of needing an ass whipping, we got one, none of this "touch me and I'll call the cops" bullshit.

We didn't have to worry about kids carrying guns to school, shooting up the entire damn place.

It's funny to see people from like Cali, Florida, Arizona and other places of warmer weather deal with "colder" weather, which to them, colder weather is anything colder than 70 degrees. I've seen weather here in Omak hit -20 in the winter, then 115 in the summer, dealt with feet of snow. I guess ya just learn to adapt

yea. as for the cold in florida, they consider anything below 70 cold because we never see anything below 70. its rare as hell. honestly i consider 40 chilly but felt at home in 9 degree weather. the heat isnt what people hate about florida, its the humidity and dew points. that shit is a killer. i sort of wish i lived in WA but at the same time i dont lol

We're having crazy weather. It's almost 40 degrees. It's about time to break out the shorts and t shirts. We've had rain since Thursday. This weather is nuts. I'm kinda likin it, other than the rain

                            Washington State.

It's normally way colder than this, and way more snow. We had a little bit of snow about a week ago, we got about a foot or so, but, with the warm weather and rain, it's almost all gone. It's been foggy as hell, too. Some parts, you can't see 10 feet in front of ya. Makes driving shitty

Hell... I'm so used to technology that I can't imagine living without it... even as I was living just 13 years ago!

I got my first computer, and good ol' dialup AOL, back in 1997. I got my first cell phone about 3 years later.

Now, dialup internet and puke-green-screen cell phones seem archaic! Now, if I can't get a wifi connection on my Netbook, or get online with my iPhone... I feel helpless.

Technology is great... and it's also crippling. I don't do anything, because I don't NEED to do anything. Social interaction? Instant messenger or texting (who actually TALKS anymore?) TV? Downloaded content. Read a book while I poop? Hell no... I shoot aliens on the iphone. Buy a CD? What's that?
