    Zack's Weight Loss Thread

Ok lets do this. I have been meaning to make this thread for a while now.
    I am 6'6.5" Inches tall.
    I wear a size 60 pants A Size 16 Shoe,
and a 6XLT Shirt. The reason for that is because I weigh over 380lbs.
I have noe exact number right this minute, because I'm having trouble finding a scale that goes above 380....I dont have any weight related health problems now, but I know that eventually I will. So I have started a new diet, and begun exercising three times a week for an hour to hour and a half each time.
I will post some pics of my self in the first post of this thread to update I think everytime I weigh my self. which is once every two weeks.
so yeah let me know what you think, and if you are starting a similar thing.

I highly recommend seeing a professional about weight loss. Doing it on your own WILL result in failure.

Not because you lack the will/determination...I'm sure you do...but because 99% of people who are in your situation fail because they don't know HOW to lose weight...for folks in your situation, being that overweight, it is not a simple matter of "eat right, work out"

hell even people who are not obese typically do not have a clue as to what foods to eat and what type of exercise to do.

                      1. you more than likely have some genetic factors playing into this, so eating right isn't good enough, there is much more to it.

                      2. working out...well you can't just jump in there.

If you want to really get on this you'll need professional help.

also, you say you don't have any health problems related to your weight, I find that nearly impossible to believe...have you had blood work done? Blood pressure taken? You may not feel badly, but you are used to how you currently feel. I imagine if you were to suddenly have all that weight taken off, you would feel drastically different.

Good luck, please get professional help.

Id first like to say that you are wrong. I am 25 years old. 5"10 and i weigh right around 320, naked. I had blood work and tests done less than a year ago and i was perfectly healthy. My bad cholesterol levels were a little high, but still in the norm. So it IS possible to be "big" and be healthy.

Zack, my dad is about your size; 6"8 and about 400lbs. He used to smoke and still smokes weed occassionally and he drinks every now and then, but he's healthy. He lifts weights and swims and everything.

Rule #1 is dont let anyone discourage you.

While i would advise seeing a doctor, it is only because at our size, it's easy to overdo it and you dont wanna end up hurting yourself. I recently started a little regimen myself. Mines been relatively simple actually.

STOP drinking soda! This, i have found, is key. Try to cut out any "man-made" beverages. I drink little to no coffee, tea, etc. If i do drink tea, its UNsweet. If i do drink soda, i try to go for DIET soda. Otherwise its water, milk and juices. Juices you have to be careful with as well as many contain alot of sugar.

Ive also stopped eating out fast food. If i absolutely have to or for whatever reason i do, i also go for grilled chicken or a salad.

The next thing i do is, i run/walk/jog a mile every day. Find a track, gym, stretch of road or even measure distance around your block. Get in the CB, set the tripodometer and drive it, lol. But i do this every night after work. On my days off i try to do at least a nice brisk walk.

You're a little big for a conventional bike(Yes, they make fat guy bikes), so until you slim down some, you'll have to go with walking/running/jogging. I however have recently purchased a standard $100 stationary bike and if i dont/cant do my mile, i hop on it. I rode it for an hour the other day, at a comfortable pace and in an hour i "went" 10 miles!

My theory is, we as a society have CRAP eating habits; junk food, soda, sugar, salt, fried foods, fast food--its all junk. IMHO, you have to get back on track of eating and exercising "normally". Get all, or as many as you can, of your daily veggies, fruits, grains, etc. Once you've been "Back on Track" for a period of time and your body is used to doing things "normally" then you go about dieting.

So many people go from fried, sugar-coated fast food to eating water and salads and that's where they go wrong. Their bodies think theyre dying or starving, so they shut down and retain the weight.

Ive been eating granola bars with/for breakfast.
I now drink water with my lunch and an apple instead of a little sweet treat.
My lunch is, and has been PB&J, lol.
Dinner is whatever i can find/make or get thats as healthy as possible.

I also cut back on the sweets. Candy, cake, chocolate, etc. Ive actually been finding that lately, i dont want those things anymore. Occassionally ill get a little sweet-tooth and ill grab a few M&M's or something of the like, but thats it. Just a few and thats usually a few times a week, tops.

Ive also been getting cravings for "good" food; spinach, tomatoes, alot of spices and such. Just foods and things i used to not like. Might just be me and my body though.

All-in-all, i think its just about getting back on track and eating right and throw in a little exercise. Dont push yourself beyond your limits, but dont be afraid to go an extra few minutes. "No pain, no gain", lol.

Now if only i could find a cheap weight bench....
