    Question about the older skyline's

I was wondering, if i had a skyline shipped from overseas, what would i have to do to regester that car. i know emmisions is an issue, but does anybody know exactly what has 2 be changed?

Modifications must be performed by a Registered Importer before the car can ever even come into the owner's possession if the car is under 25 years old. The modifications necessary to make a Skyline legal are extensive, and only apply to the R33 (possibly not even the GT-R models, since they have many different parts). R32 and R34 models are completely illegal in the US. There is no applicable crash test data available for these models.

If you want a Skyline, get a 1984 model or older. Then shipping and customs are all you're going to have to worry about. Find yourself a knowledgeable RI, with a reliable source in Japan (or Australia), and get ready to pay up to $10,000 (or mroe) for one that's in worthwhile condition.

Skylines 25 years old and newer have been completely abolished from the DOT's list of eligible cars to be imported. No longer can some one import them AND complete the necessary modifications to make them 50 state approved. Too many people were bringing them in under the radar and the government decided it was too big of an issue. So even the R33 has been axed. If you really want a skyline, you're going to have to get one older than 25 years old, or buy one here that has ALREADY been modified, and its bond released to be legally registered for public road use in the states.
