mang, thats bull-plop. i think their rationale is that you can have a super fast car and drive it slowly and responsably, but if you put a nitrous system in your car, you're going to use it. if you werent going to use it you wouldnt have it. anyhow, just disconnect the bottle when youre not going to mess around, if you get pulled over just be like "oops, sorry officer, the last time i utilized my NAWZZZZZZzz on a closed, safe, professionally run race track i must have forgotten to disconnect it afterwards."

Remote bottle opener with a seperate, hidden kill switch. If the need arises, spin the bottle closed, kill the power to the remote opener and show the cop that something's wrong with the system. I was so disgusted that I couldn't get the bottle open at the track, I must have forgotten to unhook the line before I hit the street again.

That's crazy that they outlawed N2O here... The 5-0 must have noticed that you just got spray

Meh... I think an easy thing would be to put the bottle somewhere hidden, but easily accessible, also it would be good to get some kind of quick disconnect kinda like air tool lines.

As for nitrous exploding... refer to my sig...

Ganged up on by my sister-in-law and my wife!!!
my sister in law: that's ok. nitrous oxide is a waste of money anyway. ESPECIALLY this time of the year when people could be buying Christmas presents for their wives and beautiful children. Or, any other time of the year when that money can be put toward other useful things, ya know, clothing, food, shelter, paying off debt, etc.
This ..."new law" only gives former n2o lovers more time to spend with family and be productive in other useful ways.
Me: I have one hobby; my car. What you consider a waste of money, I may not. Nowhere did I say I wanted to go buy some right now, or that the new law would stop me from buying it.The car has also never taken away from my family in any way. It's an unfair law that targets a small percentage of automotive enthusiasts. They haven't made it illegal for... See More ... turbos, superchargers or high performance v8 cars to be driven on the street, just cars with nitrous oxide. The vast majority of street racers don't even have nitrous oxide in their cars. I also don't appreciate someone telling me what I should or should not be spending my money on or insinuating that I don't spend enough time with my family.
My wife: Can't we all just get along!
I can't stay out of this one. Sorry honey, but in the past you were obsessed with your car, and it did take away from your family. I agree with my sister’s statement, and feel that she was not trying to insinuate anything. Instead of automatically assuming the world is out to get you, maybe try to step back and view things from a different perspective. Did you even stop to think that she may be trying to help you see the brighter side of things? We all know you're upset you are over this new law, and what a pessimist you are. Could my sister, being an optimist like myself, have been trying to help you see the silver lining?
Me again: I have less than $2000 in my entire car, including the car, spent over three years.
It costs me less to fill my nitrous bottle than it costs to buy a box of ammo or a case of beer or tickets to a ball game or to go to the movies for a couple of hours. I don't go out and get drunk, I don't even drink. I have plans and parts waiting to go on the car that haven't happened yet because my family comes first. I've even done side work to support my hobby, and spent that money on the family instead of the car. Everything I have done to the car has gone through you first, Monica, every time, I ask you if we can manage it beforehand.
How could your sister's comment be intended to help me see the brighter side? She's told me my hobby is a waste of time and money and that instead of spending a little occasional money on myself, it should all go to the family.
In the interest of family harmony and the Christmas spirit, I'm stepping back from this discussion before it becomes an argument.

Wow. If I was on your end of the conversation, I would be at the point where I put on my head phones and play violent video games, just to prevent myself from doing/saying something stupid.

Your Sister-in-Law is a little nosey. I hate people like that.

Had some medication, had some conversation with the wife, and while I still have some strong feelings about it, it'll be cool.

Man, fuck this little 21 year old self righteous bitch.

ME: Marilee, I apologize if I misunderstood your post.
Sister-in-law: haha my wall post wasn't meant in any particular way, just stating the facts. I guess I'll be more careful next time I try to make sensitive people feel better...
                          PS:
Nitrous tanks cost a minimum of $40 to fill up (for a small tank), a box of amo cost $20... Tanks are purely for superficial selfish pleasure, whereas a few rounds through some person trying to break in to my home will save my life... Not exactly the smartest comparison you could have made Jon, wouldn't you say?
Me: What you think I should do with my money isn't a fact, it's an opinion. Since you're claiming facts please be sure of the accuracy of your facts before you comment on the intelligence of my statements.
Nitrous oxide is $5 a lb. I have a 5 lb bottle. Therefore it's $25 to fill my bottle.
If you're buying ammo for that cheap, it's A: small caliber or B: garbage ammo. (I do know what I'm talking about, I may not own a gun, but it doesn't make me less informed on them. My brother's hobbies are his quad and his guns. I go to the range and Vance's with him, and I read all the catalogs and magazines he gets). A 50 round box of half-decent .45 ammo is about $30 on sale. My brother's FN Five-Seven rounds costs him about $50 a box, The AR-10 rounds cost him more than that. If you buy the cheap ammo, it doesn't shoot consistent, fouls your barrel more and jams up exactly when you need it.
I agree that the comparison to ammo wasn't the best, however, that extra 50 horsepower could be just enough to let me move the coupe out of the way of a drunken driver, or someone not paying attention quick enough to avoid being hit. In over 25 years of driving, (yes that's longer than I coud legally drive, but I've been driving since I was 14) having less power has never gotten me out of a dangerous situation. I have, however, avoided several accidents that someone else's negligence would have caused simply because my car had the power to get out of the way quickly. I have also had an accident that would have been avoided had the car I was driving had more power. I've also never had an accident caused (or contributed to) by having a higher horsepower car. I can say that extra horsepower has saved my life at least half a dozen times. How often has a bullet saved your life in your 21 years?
Not to mention, my original posts about nitrous being outlawed said nothing about purchasing any at all. My complaint is the unfairness to the tiny portion of automotive enthusiasts that this law targets. You took it upon yourself to make a post telling me how I should spend my money and calling my hobby a waste of time. Had you posted about an unfair law that affected your hobby, I wouldn't have taken it upon myself to tell you it was a waste of time and money. I would have replied sympathetically that I felt your frustration and wished you well in dealing with it.

I'm sorry that you feel my hobby is superficial and selfish. Are your hobbies altruistic?

They should ban the use of n2o in all states on street use. I believe in MN you can have it in your car but the line can't be hooked to it.

Not saying n20 is bad but the majority people who uses it for steet use is really up to no good.

By that reasoning, any performance mod should be outlawed. No more aftermarket turbos, or superchargers, no bigger exhaust, no SRI or CAI, no more tuned ECUs, no weight reduction.

Jon, your car probably makes less power than mine on spray... and MY car is slow!

It really does make no sense.

However, I do understand where the lawmakers are coming from. It's horsepower added to go fast. Most people don't install a nitrous kit to get out of the way of drunk drivers. Most people that install a nitrous kit are into racing. If they use it on the street, they're street racing.

But you know what... nitrous or not, they're not going to stop street racing. If they have a 100hp Civic that once had a 50 shot on it... they now have a 100hp civic. You can race that. You can kill someone with that.

Besides... street racing is illegal, and the street racers do it. If nitrous is illegal, street racers will still use it.
