    Should i get an electric welding station?

    I thought about getting a welding station from home depot and electric one is it worth it? I rather get it so that i dont have to go to a welding shop and do shit on my own when the time comes? any suggestions?

        What are you going to be welding?

        heavy steel, moderate, aluminum etc..

            But the question is what gauge? I kinda doubt you want a stick welder for more things car related. You probably want a MiG.

              IF you wana do aluminum TiG is the way to go, but it takes some skills and expensive equipment.

                  wondering about this as well, harbor frieght has a desently priced welder for sale that i kinda want to pick up to start learning on.

                  doesn any one know if this is worth it. mostly will be doing steel (car and personal fab usage.)

                          Okay so the mig welder is the one i want then huh. Imma cop me one soon probably this week because i got the cash like that and i look at it as a proper investment.

                            Get the following brands:

                            Miller
                            Lincoln
                            Hobart

                            Thats about the best ones out there.

                            For anything car related get a mig, Its quick and easy to use. You will need a spool gun and another tank of gas to weld aluminium

                              Mig is good, but it can be sloppy, and not as strong as tig. Tig welding takes a fair amount of skill, though... and mig welding is the easiest to just pick up and do.
                              I've been considering getting a welder myself... though I'm so damn lazy and busy, that it would probably never get used!
