There really isn't all that much that Obama can do in such a short time. In fact, I doubt he'll be able to make any significantly noticeable changes before his term is up. This country was going in a bad direction when he took over, and it's a large boat to turn around! That is... if he's even capable of doing so.

He HAS done some good things, from what I've read... but not nearly enough to be worthy of the Nobel Peace Price, IMO.

You've got it, Barack. Now earn it.

Just because he won something doesnt mean he deserves it. In fact, he doesnt deserve a lot of things...

Honestly... from his perspective... Holy shit...

Imagine being Barack Obama for the past 11 months. Not only did he become president, but he's also the very first black man to ever hold that position (well, half... close enough, considering the purely white predecessors). Now he wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

He must feel like he's on top of the world right now.

Rather than rag on him for how much he may or may not deserve it... I'd like to see him do something (or continue to do something, depending on where you stand) that DOES deserve it.

I fully respect Obama and his decisions. I feel like he definitely deserves this award.

Sometimes it's not about what you've done, it's about what you haven't done.

                      Quote from President Obama himself:

This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.

This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.

So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.

                      Thank you,

                      President Barack Obama

Given the rich history and major advancements in human history that this prize has previously been awared for, in comparison, what has he done? He is little more then a inexpirenced slick talker without the track record to back it. People were outraged that Jeezy produced his song "My president is Black" but really by unjustly giving him this aware we are not only demeaning the value placed on such an internationally recognized acheivement but we are promoting the idea of racisim each time that people say this is an accomplishment for him. He is not white nor is he black, if that is even the issue here. I personally feel that he is severly lacking in all things "Presidential" and as far as awarding or recognizing him for personal achievement that is not right either. He was basically awared this prize for becomming the first "ethinic" president plain and simple. Not because he did anything to warrent it. Hell, Angelina Jolie and all her adopted children should have at least been in the running if standards for this award are so lax as it could easily be argued that she has done more for africa then him. At least the fruits of her labor didn't get caught high fiving sworn emimies of the US or Bowing to forgin Dictators. Where is the committee on this?

I like the guy, but I'm sure there are other people that are doing many times the work load to improve the world (with results) than Obama or any US president for that matter.

Al Gore getting it pist me off, just for making a stupid movie? give me a break.

Hey... impressionable people are more affected by what they see on a screen than anything else. If you want to get a message across, make a movie!

Al Gore did far more than "make a movie"
